First Look and Review: YeSake Hand Rolls and Slushes in Disney Springs

Recommended Posts

Just when we thought we knew everything about what was coming, Disney World pulled a complete surprise out of their hats — YeSake!

The YeSake kiosk at the new Town Center area of Disney Springs features Temaki, or Hand Rolls — but with a twist. Look for international flavors to be the star of the show. And that’s not all; the spot is also home to some delicious Grown Up Slushies featuring — what else? — Sake!

The very first time that we heard about the spot was just last week, when we found out it would open alongside many expected eateries on May 15. And this is the week!

It was a busy weekend of eating here at DFB. ;-) Along with all of the other eats and treats we’ve enjoyed, we are also ready to give you your very first look at YeSake! Let’s check it out.

Atmosphere

YeSake is a kiosk located in just-opened Town Center portion of Disney Springs. The petite, unique building features vintage looking brick, copper flashing, and stained glass windows. The details help it to blend in nicely with its surroundings.

Wondering exactly where it is? We left this pic mostly uncropped so that you could get your bearings. As you can see, it sits in the shadows of Planet Hollywood, which is currently undergoing a major renovation and re-themeing.

This area is home to several other kiosks, including Forty-Thirst Street Express, Häagen-Dazs, Italian Ice, and Wetzel’s Pretzels.

But back to YeSake. There’s not a whole lotta atmosphere to share, this being a kiosk and all. ;-) But I was able to get a few pics of the inside and the Hand Roll Making Process, just to give you a feel for what to expect.

After I placed my order, I watched as the Cast Members prepared everything for me.

And similar to pretty much all other Disney kiosks, I ordered at one window, and picked up at another.

Since these are kiosks, there’s no indoor seating. But here’s the kicker: there’s really no outdoor seating close by to speak of, either. Yep. Hand Rolls are a great eat-and-stroll food. Since no cutlery is required, it looks like you’ll be expected to eat on the go!

Eats

Nailing down the concept of YeSake is easy once you get a glimpse of the menu. The stand features Temaki, or Japanese Hand Rolls. BUT — the wrappers here aren’t seaweed. Instead, you’ll find Tortilla Wrappers filled with Rice and another Main Ingredient.

Something else to note right off the bat — all of the rolls are available at part of the Disney Dining Plan!

And that’s where things get really interesting. The flavors are mixed and matched from all over the globe! At a glance, we saw Chinese flavors married with Mexican ingredients, and Indian-inspired dishes side by side with Guacamole! There are also interesting Add-Ons, like Aioli Yuzu Sauce.

After walking around Disney Springs to scope out all the new stuff, it was time for a beverage! There were some decent Canned Beers available, and I figure they’ll pair pretty well with the hand roll options.

But I was more excited to see more Grown Up Slushies to explore. For this visit, I decided to try the Blue Coconut and Sake Slush.

Don’t be afraid of the drink’s vibrant color. ;-) The combo of Sake, Blue Curacao, Rum, Pineapple Juice, Coconut Syrup, and Banana Syrup landed somewhere in the middle between a Pina Colada and a Rum Runner — but slightly more exotic, thanks to the Sake. It was definitely refreshing.

And the sweet rich flavor paired nicely with the Hand Rolls I decided to try.

As for food, how can you pass up anything called The Great Wall?!

In addition to the Tortilla and White Rice, fillings in this one include Chinese-Style Pulled Pork, Pickled Jalapeño,  Hoisin Sriracha Sauce, and Green Leaf Lettuce. The whole thing resulted in some sweet heat that I really enjoyed.

But I also couldn’t pass up the chance to try the Spiced World. This one features Tempura Shrimp, Green Leaf Lettuce, Cilantro, and Tom Yam Sauce.

So, basically, this is brilliant. Because if you’ve ever wanted to take your favorite Thai Hot and Sour  Shrimp Soup and make a wrap out of it, this is what you’d get.

Holding the Crispy Tempura Shrimp separate until the last minute, instead of having them in the sauce, meant that the texture of the breading added a little something extra here. But be forewarned, Cilantro Haters! You need to tell them to hold the green stuff if you don’t like it. Because there was a lot on there. And they didn’t even pretend to chop it.

While I liked both of the Rolls, in the end, the Shrimp won the day.

Just know that you’ll be grabbing some wall for a seat if you decide to dine at YeSake.

Overall

I don’t know how to tell you what to pick first! But I will say that YeSake should be somewhere on your list.

We love food in cones, after all. And the lighter tortilla (versus a fairly hefty bread cone) means that you can definitely walk away from this snack satisfied without feeling loaded down.

Disney is the king of amazing eat and stroll foods, and with the adapted Temaki concept you find at YeSake, I definitely think they have another winner on their hands. And besides — GROWN UP SLUSHIES.

Will you be making your way to sample YeSake on your next visit to Disney Springs? Leave a comment and tell us what you can’t wait to try!
