Disney4me
As Magic Kingdom Park’s 45th anniversary approaches this fall, this new weekly series will take a look at one of the park’s opening day attractions that can still be enjoyed today. This week, we’ll focus on Dumbo the Flying Elephant. When the park’s Fantasyland opened on October 1, 1971, Dumbo the Flying Elephant was a highlight of the area. Then located in front of the soon-to-open 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction, Dumbo the Flying Elephant let guests soar to new heights on the back of Dumbo, as he learned he could fly. Dumbo the Flying Elephant relocated to the Storybook Circus section of New Fantasyland in July 2012 as a part of the land’s expansion. Not only did the attraction double in size, but it also added an indoor, air-conditioned (yes!) Big Top Tent kids’ play area that’s charmingly themed after the circus in the 1941 film. Here, kids can enjoy slides, climbing nets and more before they enjoy the attraction. Now a question – when it’s your turn to take a spin on Dumbo the Flying Elephant, do you have a go-to attraction vehicle color that you run for?
