Disney4me
We are so close to the 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival that we can almost taste our favorite dishes! There are some great new additions to this year’s event, but don’t worry — there are plenty of old favorites, too. Today, we’ll take a look at both! Greenhouse Guru, sponsored by Village Farms, will debut this year with a menu celebrating tomatoes. We were super happy to finally hear official word of this one, having tried the Duck Confit dish earlier this Summer. In addition, we welcome back two of our favorite returning Booths: Farm Fresh Marketplace Booth and the Canada Marketplace Booth. Farm Fresh focuses on regional Farm to Market eats. This year we’re excited to see the return of the Loaded Mac n’ Cheese with Nueske’s Pepper Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Peppers, and Green Onions! And the Canada Booth is known far and wide for its Filet with Truffle Butter Sauce and its Cheddar Beer Soup – it’s a must-have item every Festival! Let’s take a closer look at the complete menus so that we can all get start compiling our must-eat lists! Greenhouse Guru — NEW! When we attended the Tables in Wonderland Epcot Food and Wine Festival Preview earlier this Summer, there was talk of a brand new Marketplace coming for 2016. There was even a dish available to taste from the new Booth. But the crazy part is — it didn’t have a name yet. Last week, we finally found out a little more about our Mystery Booth! Greenhouse Guru, sponsored by homegrown Village Farms, will showcase the bounty of really delicious veggies grown hydroponically! Food: Duck Confit with Creamy Polenta and Fire-roasted Salsa Heirloom Tomato Salad with Goat Cheese, Aged Balsamic Vinegar, and Micro-Basil Chilled Tomato Gazpacho with Lump Crab Meat Mini San Marzano Tomatoes — a 5-ounce bag Beverages: Chateau Ste. Michelle Cold Creek Vineyard Riesling, Washington Acrobat Pinot Noir, Oregon The dish that we sampled and absolutely loved at the tasting was the Duck Confit with Creamy Polenta and Fire-roasted Salsa. I can’t wait to have this one again! Duck Confit with Creamy Polenta and Fire-roasted Salsa Greenhouse Guru will also feature some cool eats — perfect for the warm Florida Fall weather that marks the Food and Wine Festival. We look forward to trying the Heirloom Tomato Salad with Goat Cheese, Aged Balsamic Vinegar, and Micro-Basil and the Chilled Tomato Gazpacho with Lump Crab Meat as well. Heirloom Tomato Salad with Balsamic and Basil But if you’re a tomato purist, you’ll also be able to pick up this perfectly portioned, ready to eat bag of Mini San Marzano Tomatoes. Village Farm Tomatoes Look for Garden Guru to be located in Future World! Farm Fresh Marketplace Booth The Farm Fresh Booth replaced Florida Fresh in 2014 and became a fan favorite in short order. This year guests can enjoy a little bit of a menu refresh, as the spot introduces Chicken and Dumplings! We’re also happy to see a nice variety of Ciders available at the Booth again, although we’re hoping that they add a flight so that we can experience all the flavors the spot has to offer. Florida Fresh Booth 2016 Farm Fresh Marketplace Booth Menu Food: Chicken and Dumplings: Stewed Chicken with Mushrooms and Spinach Pickled Beet Salad with Herbed Goat Cheese, Minus 8 Vinaigrette and Toasted Walnuts Loaded Mac ‘n’ Cheese with Nueske’s® Pepper Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Peppers and Green Onions Beverages: Woodchuck Raspberry Hard Cider Wyder’s Dry Pear Hard Cider Two Henrys Elderberry Hard Cider Florida Orange Groves Mango Mama Wine The menu at Farm Fresh focuses on regional items with an emphasis on farm-to-market fresh food. This year’s menu features a new Chicken and Dumplings option, plus Fruit Ciders and Wines. Chicken and Dumplings: Stewed Chicken with Mushrooms and Spinach The Loaded Mac and Cheese with Nueske’s Pepper Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Peppers, and Green Onions is spicy and creamy and a total winner! Loaded Mac and Cheese with Nueske’s Pepper Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Peppers, and Green Onions New to Farm Fresh, but not to an Epcot Festival, is the Pickled Beet Salad with Herbed Goat Cheese, Minus 8 Vinaigrette and Toasted Walnuts. We’ve seen a similar salad at the 2014 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival, featured at the Urban Eats Booth. Pickled Beets Salad Wash it all down with some refreshing Fruit Ciders or Wines — some of the lightest adult beverages you can enjoy during the Festival.
