With so much exciting news in the Disney food world lately (hello, Epcot International Festival of the Arts), we have one more treat to put on your radar. The Disney Classics Shortbread Cookie is popping up on shelves all over the World — and it is adorable.

Look at that face, friends. Doesn’t it just make you want to take a big bite out of an ear?

These shortbread cookies are replacing the pre-packaged frosted character sugar cookies that have been available in pretty much every shop (and that may have made their way home in our luggage a time or two as a tasty souvenir!).

But unlike the sugar cookies they are replacing, these shortbread cookies aren’t particularly sweet. Instead, they are a fairly traditional shortbread, more buttery than sugary.

The thin layer of icing does a good job of adding a bit more sweetness without making the cookie too over the top.  The proportion of icing to buttery cookie might seem to weigh a bit heavily on that shortbread, but the balance is appropriate (and might help us justify eating extra sweets later in the day).

The Mickey and Minnie versions of this treat feature the ears we all know and love. All the other character options are rectangular. And there are so many fun options! Perhaps you fancy a bite of a Storm Trooper?

And Pixar fans haven’t been left out.

For the cookie fan in your travel party, these cookies are a surefire hit.  They are priced at $4.99, and they are Disney Dining Plan snack credit eligible.

These new Disney Classics Shortbread Cookies are a tasty and truly classic treat (just as the name suggests). While $4.99 might seem a little steep for a single cookie in the real world, these treats are satisfying and a real upgrade from the previous sugar cookie incarnation.
