Disney4me
This weekend marked a milestone for the cruise industry when the Disney Wonder transited the Panama Canal as the first passenger vessel to go through the canal’s new set of locks. It was a momentous occasion for everyone onboard as the ship completed its passage through the recently expanded waterway. My team was there so we could share the excitement with you, and we captured some amazing footage of this once-in-a-lifetime journey. Check it out … The Disney Wonder Panama Canal crossing is part of a 14-night voyage from Port Canaveral, Fla., to San Diego. The ship entered the Panama Canal from the Atlantic, beginning its journey at the new Agua Clara Locks. From there, the ship headed south through Gatun Lake and the Culebra Cut, passing through the new Cocoli Locks and under the Bridge of Americas before exiting to the Pacific. Before and after our summer season in Alaska, the Disney Wonder will sail from San Diego to Baja and the Mexican Riviera. The ship departs the West Coast on Oct. 27 and will pass through the Panama Canal again to begin our Halloween on the High Seas cruises from Galveston, Texas.
