Epcot International Festival of the Holidays This new Epcot Festival just kicked off today and runs through December 30, 2017. All of the elements of Holidays Around the World (the previous name for Epcot’s annual celebration) have returned, including International Holiday Storytellers and food booths around World Showcase. Holiday Storytellers in Norway The Candlelight Processional will begin nightly performances starting November 24th as will the expanded Peace on Earth holiday version of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. Brand new this year is Chip & Dale’s Christmas Tree Spree — a festive Scavenger Hunt similar to Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak Scavenger Hunt from the Food and Wine Festival. Only this time, were helping Chip & Dale collect ornaments to decorate their Christmas Tree. But BEST OF ALL… the HOLIDAY FOOD BOOTHS are back! Better yet, these yuletide Food Booths (similar to the Food and Wine Festival’s Marketplace Booths), which debuted in 2016, have expanded greatly from last year’s seven booths. And you might as well get your stretchy Thanksgiving pants out NOW, is all I’m sayin’… BEST FOOD New Year Celebration Soba at Hokkaido Holiday Kitchen in Japan We’re starting with some of this year’s brand new eats, beginning at Japan’s Holiday Kitchen. Holiday dishes from the island of Hokkaido are featured here. Our top pick from Japan is the New Year Celebration Soba. New Year Celebration Soba Choose from shrimp tempura or chicken to add to your bowl of Buckwheat Soba Noodles with spinach. Hot soup for chilly Epcot days! Traditional French Canadian Tourtiere with Canadian Ketchup at Yukon Holiday Kitchen in Canada Oh, Canada! Another hit from one of our favorite Epcot pavilions, you’re going to want to try the Traditional French Canadian Tourtiere with Canadian Ketchup at Yukon Holiday Kitchen. Canadian Tourtiere with Canadian Ketchup Tamal de Chilorio at Las Posadas in Mexico Slow-roasted Pork Shoulder is marinated in Ancho Paste and stuffed in a Corn Masa. Served with Salsa tres Chile and garnished with Crema Mexicana and Queso Fresco at Las Posadas in Mexico. Tamal de Chiloro Grilled Lamb Kefta and Grapes at Tarabaki Holiday Kitchen in Morocco Enjoy this Lamb Kefta with Julienne of Euro Cucumber, Red Pepper, Pickled Pearl Onions, Harissa and Cilantro Dressing at Tarabaki Holiday Kitchen. Grilled Lamb Kefta with Grapes Celebration Barbecue Pork Rice Bowl and a Fortune Cookie at Shanghai Holiday Kitchen in China This wasn’t exactly served in a bowl, but it’s the thought that counts? Shanghai Holiday Kitchen kicked off the holiday season with this killer concoction. Celebration Barbecue Pork Rice Bowl BEST DESSERTS Warm Apple Fritter with Cinnamon Ice Cream at the Cookie Nook Holiday Kitchen inside the Festival Center Yes, that’s Warm Caramel Sauce topping this super sweet dessert at the Cookie Nook Holiday Kitchen. Warm Apple Fritter Maple Bûche de Noël: Maple Mousse rolled in Gingerbread Chiffon Cake at Yukon Holiday Kitchen in Canada Yes, the lines are long at this popular kitchen booth, however, you’re not going to want to pass by the Canadian pavilion. Garnished with Cranberry Sauce and Pecan Crumble at Yukon Holiday Kitchen in Canada, the Maple Bûche de Noël is one of this year’s showstoppers. Maple Buche de Noel Maple Buche de Noel Panettone alla Milanese: Warm Italian Fruit Cake at Italy’s Tuscany Holiday Kitchen Not your average fruit cake! In Italy at the Tuscany Holiday Kitchen, the Panettone alla Milanese is enhanced with Vanilla Sauce and Cherry Syrup. BEST DRINKS Spiced Rum Punch Slush at Alsace Holiday Kitchen in France Cheers to the Spiced Rum, Rhum Clement V.S.O.P., and Orange and Pineapple Juice with Cinnamon at Alsace Holiday Kitchen in France. It’s Christmas in a glass! Spiced Rum Punch Slush Frozen Kahlúa® Coffee Margarita at Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen in Mexico If you’ve never tried a coffee margarita in the Mexico pavilion (they don’t have them all that often), now’s the time!! This one is frozen, and I do prefer it on the rocks, but Las Posadas adds Kahlua, because…Kahlua. Frozen Kahlua Coffee Margarita Iced Strawberry Milk: Strawberry Milk at Hokkaido Kitchen in China This one, with Japanese Calpico Yogurt (non-alcoholic), might be the perfect pick for your kiddos at Hokkaido Kitchen. Iced Strawberry Milk The Andalusian “Poinsettia” Cocktail at Tarabaki Holiday Kitchen in Morocco Sparkling Wine, Orange Liqueur and Cranberry Juice topped with Orange Blossom Water at Tarabaki Holiday Kitchen is another ideal cocktail to get ready for the holiday season. Andalusian Poinsettia Cocktail BEST FLIGHT Holiday Beer Flight at American Holiday Table This one, featuring Orange Blossom Brewing, Shipyard Eggnog White Porter, and JDub’s Season’s Greetings Peppermint Milk Stout, is a stand-out at American Holiday Table.
