The Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square in Disneyland has a limited menu, and they do it so well. The Mint Juleps are refreshing (and underwent a makeover in 2017!), and the Beignets? Y’all. Yum.

And while a traditional beignet with powdered sugar is always a good idea (and always available — even when they offer specialty varieties!), we love that the Mint Julep Bar likes to throw a little sugar party every season. And right now: It’s Mardi Gras time, baby!

Leave it to our Disneyland guru Heather Sievers (follow her crazy life at @DiningInDisney!) to get in on this sweet action. The Mardi Gras beignets are sprinkled not with powdered sugar, but with a combination of yellow, lemon-flavored sugar and purple, blueberry-flavored sugar — with some sugar stars in there for happy measure!

They’re so festive with the color combo, and the subtle lemon and blueberry flavors go well together. Plus, you know, fried dough goodness with all the pillowy pockets that are a must for beignets.

And in case you were wondering: Yes, these are absolutely Insta-worthy. Just find a festive backdrop and click away! That is, if you can hold off eating them, which, well, we can’t always promise. ;)

And don’t forget: you can also grab your beignets at Cafe Orleans, home of our favorite Disneyland food!
