Disney4me
For ages, the Mint Julep at Disneyland’s Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square has been something of a cult classic. Learn About:Casey’s Corner Magic KingdomDisney World Restaurants That said, even as a classic, it’s been through some changes. Just last summer, the classic bright green, uber minty version received a makeover into what it is now: a lemon-lime refresher with a more subtle mint flavor. Now, you may be thinking: “Okay, fine. What does this have to do with Disney World, which is what I read about in the title?” Well, let me tell you: Disney World’s Magic Kingdom now has its very own Mint Julep at long last, thanks to the arrival of the Mint Julep Lemonade Slushy on the menu at Casey’s Corner! Casey’s Corner menu Casey’s has been one among a myriad of locations in Disney World that have sold the classic Lemonade Slushy for years. But now, Casey’s has stepped it up! That same odwalla® All-Natural Lemonade has now been transformed into the Mint Julep Lemonade Slushy. Frozen Mint Julep Lemonade So, how does it compare to the Disneyland version? Let’s check out the similarities first. For starters, they are both non-alcoholic beverages. If your thoughts — understandably — leap to a bourbon-based cocktail, you can find a good one at the Turf Club Bar and Grill’s lounge. You won’t find one in either Magic Kingdom or Disneyland park (unless you’re at Club 33). Also, the flavor profile on both coasts includes a burst of citrusy lemon. That, however, brings us to our first difference: the new incarnation of the Disneyland Julep emphasizes the lemon a bit over the mint. Disneyland’s Mint Julep But the new Casey’s Julep is mixed with a mint syrup that brings a decent blend of both tastes — lemon and mint — so neither one is in the forefront. Further, the new Julep at Casey’s is a frozen slush, while the Disneyland Julep is on the ol’ rocks. Frozen Mint Julep Lemonade AND for once, Disney World has won the Garnish Game! While we all love Dole Whip in any park, the Disneyland Dole Whip Float has always outshone the Disney World Dole Whip Float thanks to the fun additions of a cherry and one of those adorable teeny-tiny umbrellas. But while the Disneyland Julep is garnished with mint leaves and lemon, the Disney World Julep at Casey’s includes both of those PLUS a cherry. Frozen Mint Julep Lemonade PLUS a Mickey Straw for keeps! Frozen Mint Julep Lemonade Well done, Casey! In fact, well done to YOU whether you drink your Mint Julep in Disney World or Disneyland. Because there’s one more thing both drinks share in common: as we approach Spring Break and the following summer months, these citrusy, minty refreshers are a wonderfully cooling drink on a warm day, so we’re glad to welcome this Mint Julep to Magic Kingdom, too!
