Disney4me
Lest you think Disneyland Resort’s Pixar Fest is just serving up snacks like Funnel Cake Fries topped with sugary, fruity cereal and Cocoa Churros with Mexican-Spiced Chocolate Dip, today we invite you to step into the past at Carnation Café. It’s here you’ll find two throwback entrées: a Pork Chop TV Dinner and a Fried Bologna Sandwich. Carnation Cafe in Disneyland These two Grandma’s kitchen-worthy dishes are inspired by the heartwarming (tear-jerking) Pixar film Up!, in which viewers watch sweet Carl and his love Ellie grow old together. Carnation Cafe’s Pixar Fest Menu Carl’s Fried Bologna Sandwich is served on Toasted Pullman Bread, which is buttered and cooked on a griddle. Fried Bologna Sandwich You’ll also find Aioli, Lettuce, Tomato, and Pickles on there — not to mention a huge side of crispy French Fries. Fried Bologna Sandwich And the Fried Bologna? It’s seriously amazing! Think: hot dog sandwich. That’s basically what this tastes like. And we love it! Fried Bologna! The Pork Chop TV Dinner is served in the classic divided tray (although not the foil version of the TV dinner’s hey day. All the components are here — and they’re all terrific! Pork Chop TV Dinner The Pork Chop is perfectly cooked, with a light sear, Spiced Apples, and Mashed Potatoes (skin on). Pork Chop with Spiced Apples and Mashed Potatoes The Pork is juicy and not overdone. It goes as well with the Apples as the classic combo should. Interior of Pork Chop The Peas and Carrots are a bit more upscale than a traditional TV dinner — with some caramelization and a ton of flavor. Peas and Carrots The Cornbread is simple and tasty, with a healthy dollop of butter. Cornbread with Butter Even the Molten Lava Cake — which in a typical TV dinner would be a dried out hockey puck — was awesome! Molten Lava Cake The interior was piping hot and gooey! Molten Lava Cake, indeed! Gooey center in the Molten Lava Cake So if you’re in need of a full meal during Pixar Fest (rather than dining exclusively on churros all day…), head on over to Carnation Café for two truly stellar options!
