Every once in a while a menu change at Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World sparks a flame of excitement for the DFB — and this is one of those times! Our Disneyland correspondent Heather (keepin’ it tasty @DiningInDisney on Instagram!) headed to Tangaroa Terrace at Disneyland Hotel recently — only to discover that the new menu she’d been so anxious to try is basically the same menu that can be found at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar (also located at the Disneyland Hotel)!

And this, our Disney food loving friends, is a good thing! The menu now includes favorites like Panko-Crusted Chinese Long Beans and an Island-Style Hot Dog. But if you think Heather stopped at those two delicious items, you just haven’t been paying attention. ;)

On her visit, Heather opted for the famous Trader Sam’s Pu Pu Platter, which allows diners to sample four of the menu items: the Long Beans we mentioned, Sweet and Spicy Asian WingsPork Gyoza, and Fried Spring Rolls.

The Sweet and Spicy Asian Wings are as advertised: coated in a sweet sauce that complimented the slightly spicy seasoning on the wings. These are cooked on the bone for maximum juiciness and flavor!

The Panko-Crusted Chinese Long Beans are as crunchy and irresistible as ever and come with Togarashi Aïoli that’s addicting (and also terrific with the Wings!).

The Fried Spring Rolls are vegetarian and fried to a perfect golden color.

Inside are traditional veggies like cabbage, onion, and carrot. There’s really nothing special or unique about these, but as a general rule, we don’t complain too much about foods that are wrapped and fried. :-D These benefit from a dip in the Togarashi Aïoli also!

The Pork Gyoza are steamed pot stickers packed with pork and vegetables. The wrappers (they’re the Gyoza part of Pork Gyoza) are slightly chewy and hold together well.

The interior is a mix of tasty pork, veggies, and subtle seasoning.

Heather also wanted to try the Island-Style Hot Dog which, frank-ly speaking, is a fabulous rendition of a hot dog. For starters, this ain’t an Oscar Meyer, y’all; it’s a Pork and Pineapple Sausage! These island flavors are stuffed into a Pretzel Bun and topped with Whole-Grain Mustard, Onion Sauce, Pickled Carrots and Diakon Radish, and Fresno Chiles.

This is a beauty in more ways than one! Not only is it visually quite pretty (you know, as pretty as a sausage can be…), but the flavors really work well together.

Way to go Tangaroa Terrace. And since it’s located at Disneyland Hotel rather than inside the park, you don’t even need a ticket to get in on this delicious Disney food action! (And bonus: if you’ve been jonesing to try Trader Sam’s menu but didn’t want the hassle of getting in there, Tangaroa Terrace is super accessible!)
