Disney4me
What’s NEW at Disney’s Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs Resorts? A lot of construction! Both resorts are seeing lots of new additions from the Skyliner System to BRAND NEW resorts. Caribbean Beach, of course, is adjacent the new Riviera Resort and with that proximity comes a lot of action! Riviera Resort Construction and Skyliner While the Riviera Resort isn’t a part of Caribbean Beach Resort, guests are still feeling the impact of it’s construction. Just how much will this construction affect your visit? Read on to find out! Disney’s Riviera Resort Construction Disney’s Riviera Resort, expected to open December 16th of this year, is a Disney Vacation Club Resort inspired by Walt’s travels through the Mediterranean. The resort will be connected to Hollywood Studios and Epcot via the new Skyliner System. Riviera Resort Construction Riviera’s Skyliner station is clearly visible to the left of the resort. Construction continues here in addition to the larger project of the resort itself. Skyliner in proximity to Riviera It’s difficult to tell how far along this station is, but there are still pieces of equipment, tools, and materials about. Riviera Skyliner Station Riviera Resort itself looms large on the horizon and remains covered in substantial scaffolding. Riviera Resort Construction Riviera Resort Construction Riviera Resort Construction This new resort will be the 15th Disney Vacation Club Resort on property and will have rooftop dining with spectacular views of the Epcot and Hollywood Studios fireworks. Read more about the resort and its restaurants here! Riviera Resort Construction What’s New at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Across the water at Caribbean Beach Resort you might hear a bit of construction noise during the day; since the main pillars of the Skyliner System have been in place for months, most guests won’t experience much of an impact. Caribbean Beach’s own Skyliner station continues to develop, and we can see many gondolas parked at the station. They remain covered in white plastic, but we can get a hint of color beneath the covering! Caribbean Beach Skyliner Station A peek inside Centertown Market shows some changes to the menu here! Several items are gone, including: Romaine Watercress and Hearts of Palm Salad, Shrimp Piccata with Linguini, Chicken Parmesan, Banana Wrapped Fish option for the Create-Your-Own-Bowls, the Smoked Turkey and Chicken Cuban Hot Sandwich, and the Grilled Vegetable Cold Sandwich. Centertown Market Dinner Menu The pastry case was stocked on our visit with the latest specialty cupcake… Centertown Market Pastry Case A Rose Gold Unicorn Cupcake! (We spotted a few of these last year when rose gold and unicorns were reaching peak popularity). Rose Gold Unicorn Cupcake What’s New at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Gran Destino Tower gets closer and closer to completion — with an opening date of July 9, 2019! Coronado Springs Gran Destino Tower from the road From the road, you can get some pretty good glimpses of how things are progressing. Coronado Springs Gran Destino Tower from the road Exterior design details are emerging! Coronado Springs Gran Destino Tower from the road Coronado Springs Gran Destino Tower from the road This new addition to the Coronado Springs Resort will bring another 545 guest rooms to the resort. Coronado Springs Gran Destino Tower from the road Construction walls remain up, along with concept art that gives us a peek at the finished tower along with the new dining options coming to the resort. Concept art on construction walls You can check out the menu for Toledo — the new rooftop restaurant opening with Gran Destino Tower — here! Concept art on construction walls Concept art on construction walls From the other side of the building, we got another look at those exterior details. Gran Destino Tower Plenty of scaffolding here too, but exterior work has come a long way! Gran Destino Tower Gran Destino Tower This appears to be a (covered?) walkway that will lead toward El Centro, where you’ll find more dining options. Gran Destino Tower We expect the view of Lago Dorado will be lovely from the rooms facing the lake! Gran Destino Tower From afar, it’s now easy to see how Gran Destino Tower will look on the landscape of Coronado Springs Resort. Gran Destino Tower Other construction at the resort includes Villa del Lago/Three Bridges Bar & Grill. Honestly, we’re not sure what’s going on with the name here. Disney changed the original moniker — Villa del Lago — to Three Bridges Bar & Grill a while back, but signage on our visit still said Villa del Lago. Could be old signage, so we’re keeping an eye on this! Villa del Lago This space (whatever it’s eventually called!) will be a lounge and possible meeting space… Villa del Lago Villa del Lago Including with what looks like a large outdoor space. Villa del Lago There are also extensive bridges at the resort, including this one leading to Villa del Lago. Villa del Lago This location will offer spectacular vistas of the Coronado Springs Resort and we’re highly anticipating more details from this new dining location. Villa del Lago Not a bad view at all! Villa del Lago El Mercado has a few new (or newish!) items, including the Mocha Cupcake we previously reviewed from Cafe Rix! (Click here for the review!) Mocha Cupcake El Mercado has also added this adorable Strawberry Cake! Strawberry Cake Specialty soups (if you’re still hungry after a cupcake and a cake) are Chicken Tortilla and Turkey Chili. House Soups at El Mercado It’s exciting to watch the changes happening at Caribbean Beach Resort, Riviera Resort, and Coronado Springs Resort.
