Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Disney Springs

It’s shaping up to be a gorgeous weekend in Orlando and with a high of 89 degrees it’s safe to say summer has officially arrived. I’m feeling the summer vibes already and am itching to be outside in the sun with a drink in hand. If you’re still in need of weekend plans, several venues at Disney Springs are celebrating Cinco de Mayo all weekend long with special entertainment, amazing food, and of course, drink specials to commemorate this festive holiday. From a full dining experience to sweet treats, I have all the details to plan your perfect Cinco de Mayo celebration.

First stop? Frontera Cocina! This restaurant is one of my favorites on property and is led by Chef Rick Bayless, seven-time winner of the James Beard Award. Here you’ll find a contemporary Mexican experience from the warm colors inside to the open kitchen and lively atmosphere with an impressive tequila-laden “Wall of Fame.”

I suggest starting off with a bowl of house-made guacamole paired with smoky chipotle and herby salsa. (Spoiler Alert: There’s a delicious bacon version!) Then enjoy everything from Red Chili Chicken Enchiladas, Carne Asada Tacos, fresh salads and more. Ask your server about the limited-time “Taste of Mexico City” menu celebrating the flavors and diverse cultures of one of the most astonishing cities in the world.

Let’s not forget drinks! Hand-crafted margaritas, cocktails, and sangria make the perfect pairing for all this deliciousness. Specials this weekend include the Smokey Pineapple Margarita and the Topolo Margarita on the Rocks. Enjoy it all with a live guitarist from 3-9 p.m. on May 4 and 5.

Over in The Landing, Paradiso 37, Taste of the Americas is serving up Latin American dishes overlooking Lake Buena Vista for the perfect dining al fresco experience. Inside you’ll find a brightly colored atmosphere with a “tequila tower” stacked with 37 varieties (each 100% agave) and scrumptious dishes like South American Crazy Corn (a popular favorite), Baja Fish Tacos, Paradiso Surf and Turf, and so much more. On May 5, swing by and enjoy a live Mariachi band and drink specials including a fruit-infused Volcan Margarita.

If you’re looking for a totally chill and laid-back experience, Dockside Margaritas is your perfect destination. This waterfront margarita bar is one of my favorite happy hour spots to unwind and relax with friends. Enjoy everything from handcrafted margaritas, authentic Florida brews, and amazing live entertainment with a beautiful view of Lake Buena Vista. 

Sweets more your thing? You’re in luck! Now through May 5, Sprinkles is offering treats to tantalize your taste buds. Cheers with the Margarita and Strawberry Margarita Cupcakes both made with blanco tequila infused with key lime buttercream and finished with a fleur de sel rim.
