Recommended Posts

He’s brushin’ up on looking down, he’s working on his ROAR! It’s SIMBA, and he’s currently the star of the Simba Ice Cream Sandwich at Animal Kingdom’s Tamu Tamu as one of the specialty snacks celebrating The Lion King this summer!

The Simba Ice Cream Sandwich places a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream between two chocolate chip cookies — the top one of which is decorated with an edible image of Simba surrounded by a chocolate frosting mane.

A solid milk chocolate tail completes the treat.

The image of Simba is, as you would likely anticipate, more for decoration than flavor. Though technically the fondant is edible, it doesn’t taste good. But it does make for a cool picture and fortunately peels off quite easily.

You can’t really ever go wrong with a house-made ice cream sandwich in the Disney parks made with soft cookies and refreshing ice cream (and this one, by the way, is $6.99 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit). The specialty snacks celebrating “The Lion King” will be around through the end of summer, so grab a Simba Ice Cream Sandwich to cool off while you can!
