What’s NEW in Epcot: Menu Changes, New Merchandise, and the Return of the BB-8 Stein!

Recommended Posts

During our last visit to Epcot, we noticed quite a few changes and updates! A tasty treat has changed locations (Spoiler Alert: it’s the Cronut), some remnants of the 2019 International Flower & Garden Festival are still happily around, and World Showcase experienced quite a few menu updates and additions!

Let’s dive in!

What’s New in Epcot’s Future World:

Construction on the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster continues to progress. I don’t know about you, but I am more than ready for this new thrill ride to debut in Epcot!

The roller coaster is scheduled to open in 2021 as part of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.

Construction is still underway on Epcot’s space-themed restaurant. Run by the Patina Restaurant Group (who owns several restaurants in Epcot and Disney Springs), the new dining location is slated to open later this year.

Since Epcot’s Flower & Garden Festival ended on June 3, the garden display at the main entrance is no longer there.

Spaceship Earth

When we were there, the Leave a Legacy pillars on the right side of Spaceship Earth were gone as well. According to an Epcot Cast Member, all the pillars have been removed at the time of this writing.

Moving right along to Electric Umbrella, we were thrilled to notice the return of the BB-8 Stein! In our previous What’s New at Epcot, we reported the absence of the stein. We are thrilled the souvenir sipper has made its return to Epcot!

Also at Electric Umbrella, the Croissant Doughnut from Taste Track has made its way onto the menu, since Taste Track is currently closed.

Continuing to explore Future World, we noticed the Toy Story topiaries and the playground from the Flower & Garden Festival are still there. We can’t say for certain how long they’ll remain, but we’d imagine the installations are removed gradually.

If the topiaries are still there during your Epcot visit, be sure to snap some photos with Buzz Lightyear and his Toy Story pals!

Rounding out the news in Future World, construction walls are up around the Butterfly House from the Flower & Garden Festival, likely to remove the structure.

What’s New in Epcot’s World Showcase:

Kicking off our World Showcase adventure in the Mexico Pavilion, construction walls are still up near La Cantina de San Angel.

Inside La Cava del Tequila, we noticed a recent addition to the flight menu – a Mezcal Real Minero Flight.

If you want to add some fun and flavor to your Epcot day, do yourself a favor and head over to La Cava. It’s one of our favorite places to relax and take a load off!

In the Germany Pavilion, Paulaner Hefe Weizen was available at the Bier Cart.

We’re not sure how long this beer option will stick around, but it seems to be a special offer. It is not currently listed on the regular sign.

Also in Germany, a Cheese Plate was available in the wine cellar. This is not a new offering, but since it tends to come and go, we wanted to note for you that it was available to purchase while we were there.

To wrap up our time in Germany, we want to give a shout-out of thanks to the Cast Member handing out water! Cast Members are the best, aren’t they?

Continuing our international tour in Italy, a Chocolate-Dipped Strawberry Popsicle was added to the lineup at the Via Napoli Donkey Stand. This new version replaced a plain strawberry popsicle at the cart. You can grab one for $8.00 – unfortunately, it is not Disney Dining Plan snack-credit eligible.

At the American Adventure Pavilion, the Flower & Garden Festival special beer was still available at Fife & Drum. We were told it will be available until they run out.

Construction is currently taking place in the American Adventure Pavilion, as the large fountain has been roped off for repaving work.

Wrapping up our time in the American Adventure, the area where the Flower & Garden Festival Smokehouse booth stood now has construction walls. We haven’t received word why the walls are there, but we’ll keep you updated on this development.

In the Japan Pavilion, construction for Takumi-Tei is underway. The new signature dining restaurant is expected to open this summer.

There are a variety of menu changes to Japan Pavilion restaurants. First up, Katsura Grill has removed Spicy Seafood Miso Ramen and Green Tea Swirl Cake from its offerings.

According to a Cast Member, Toyko Dining made several menu additions a few weeks ago. Wasabi Shrimp is now available for $28.00 and Grilled Yuzu Salmon is on the menu for $30.00.

They’ve also added a variety of specialty rolls – Yuzu Ginger Beef Roll, Citrus Shrimp Roll, Sunshine Salmon Roll, and Rainbow Roll. Prices for these sushi dishes vary from $15.00 to $16.00.

Rounding out the changes to the Tokyo Dining menu, Nagasaki Sara Udon is on the menu for $26.00 and Seafood Yuzu Shio Ramen has been upgraded from an appetizer to entree for $25.00.

Goodness, there are SO many changes to Tokyo Dining’s menu!

There aren’t too many changes to report in the Morocco Pavilion, but there are construction walls between Morocco and France where the festival kiosks used to be. Maybe they’re removing the kiosks, but we’ll let you know when we find out more!

Construction continues to take place in the France Pavilion.

Is it just me or does construction seem to be a theme in Epcot? I just can’t wait for the new crêperie and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure to open in 2021!

Making our way to the International Gateway, we saw more construction as the Disney Skyliner testing continues.

Over in the United Kingdom Pavilion, Mushroom and Chicken Pie is no longer on the menu at Yorkshire County Fish Shop. Thank goodness we still have our fish and chips, right?

Continuing our journey in the Canada Pavilion, we noticed a few menu changes. Starting things off at Le Cellier, the new monthly Poutine featuring corned beef and beer cheese sauce hails from the United Kingdom, replacing Norway’s version.

The popcorn cart is now closed, but popcorn and several other items are available at the Northern Bloom kiosk, which has notably remained even beyond the ending of the Flower & Garden Festival.

Northern Bloom – Canada Pavilion

Among the offerings at Northern Bloom are ketchup chips (seasoned potato chips) and a 12-ounce pour of La Fin du Monde. This particular pour has been off the menu for a few years but we’re pretty sure many Disney World guests will be happy to see it back!

At Refreshment Port the Coffee Rub Poutine, which was a Festival specialty, is no longer on the menu.

Refreshment Port

The entire walkway past Refreshment Port into Future World is currently blocked off. It looks like they are removing the festival playground and possibly the kiosks. Keep that in mind if you’re visiting Epcot soon!

What’s New in Epcot’s Shops and Stores — New Merchandise!

There aren’t too many pieces of new merchandise to report, but we loved the items we found!
In the Mexico Pavilion, we spotted Mickey Mariachi Shirts. These may not be new to the Pavilion, but it was our first time seeing them.

Next up, we found new Little Mermaid Wishables at MouseGear!

These come in a variety of characters, but we’re particularly fond of Flounder! He’ll always be more than a guppie to us.

Also at MouseGear, we found a totally awesome Haunted Mansion wristlet.

It has one of those super cool “hologram” pictures that change when you move it. Such a great way to commemorate such an iconic Disney attraction!

WOW! We covered a lot in our walk around Epcot! Thanks for joining me on our tour around the park.
