Disney4me
We’re BACK at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland because TODAY IS THE DAY we have all been waiting for: the first day for regular guest admission into the land. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Since the opening of Galaxy’s Edge on May 31, 2019, guests have only been able to enter if they had a reservation, which they could obtain by staying at a Disney resort or by getting one of the few offered online. But now, anyone can get into Galaxy’s Edge (here’s how to get into Galaxy’s Edge now that the reservation period is closed)…and the land is experiencing some growing pains! Of course, this morning we headed to the park bright and early to experience the land again and to check out the crowds and the crazy. Let’s go! Entering Black Spire Outpost As of today, guests are able to enter Black Spire Outpost without a reservation as long as the land isn’t at capacity. Once it’s at capacity (which it hit earlier this morning), you’ll need to get a boarding pass through the Disneyland app in order to enter Batuu. This is basically a virtual queue system (e.g. a fastpass to get into the land itself to avoid hours-long lines clogging up the rest of Disneyland) which allows guests to hold their spot in line and enjoy other Disneyland attractions while they wait to get into Galaxy’s Edge. At the moment, Galaxy’s Edge is at capacity for today, so the virtual queue system is the only way to get in at press time. Once guests get the confirmation that they’re boarding group can enter, they have two hours to get into Galaxy’s Edge…and they can stay as long as they’d like. Galaxy’s Edge Marketplace Oga’s Cantina and Savi’s Workshop Reservation Situation So you won’t necessarily need a reservation to get INTO the land anymore, but you WILL need reservations to get into some of the land’s most popular attractions, like Oga’s Cantina and Savi’s Workshop (Lightsaber Land). Oga’s Cantina Oga’s Cantina is the local watering hole in Black Spire Outpost. Here, guests can enjoy fun themed concoctions which are served on tap. They can also listen to DJ R3X as he mixes up a few tunes! You can view our full Oga’s Cantina review here! Savi’s Workshop is the IT place when it comes to creating your very own lightsaber. Sadly, you cannot go inside to check it out unless you are purchasing a lightsaber or are accompanying someone who is (payment is completed in advance). You can read about our Savi’s Workshop lightsaber building experience here! And here’s where the growing pains come in. At 7 AM when we were patiently waiting to enter the land, we started to pursue a reservation for Oga’s Cantina and Savi’s Workshop. Within minutes all of the reservations were gone for the ENTIRE DAY. This could have been an opening day glitch or a wifi issue…we aren’t too sure! Oga’s Cantina Reservations BUT even though we weren’t able to see any openings early this morning…by 8 AM we had the ability to get a reservation for both locations, and pretty easily. That said, by about 8:45AM reservations were again sold out for the two prime attractions. But — just as with fastpasses and prime dining reservations in Disney World, cancellations and changes happen all the time. So, if you find yourself in the sticky situation of not finding a Savi’s or Oga’s reservation, keep refreshing! Times may open up! Oga’s Cantina Reservations Merchandise Information…TONS of Options Are Sold Out Disneyland was nice enough to let guests in a little early this morning. But once we got inside Galaxy’s Edge, we noticed that Disney was going to have a major problem on their hands. Tons of popular merchandise was already sold out before the official 8 AM land opening. Remember those MUST GET gift cards we told you about? Welp, they’re GONE. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Gift Card Those awesome kyber crystals that power your light saber and holocrons? Sold out, too. Kyber Crystals So, if everything is sold out on the very first day, what will tomorrow look like when it comes to merchandise for guests? Will Disneyland be able to keep up with demand? Not yet. After chatting with a few Cast Members, Disney is reporting that they do not know when the merchandise will be restocked. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run The wait time for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is already pretty high! Like 240 minutes high. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run So, yeah, it’s safe to say that Galaxy’s Edge is busy…and straining under the weight of it. We will be updating this page with the latest info from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge — including our experience getting into Oga’s Cantina — so be sure to check back for more information!
