Disney4me
From time to time I will be doing some Plein Air painting (from the field), from a new, inspiring location in the Disney Parks. I will share my sketches and experiences here on the blog each time. Today, I continue my “Sketches from the Park” series as I visited Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. When I was young I had a toy version of the Millennium Falcon that I loved to play with (ok, I still have it). So, naturally, I decided to sit down across from the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy for my sketching session today. I wanted to capture some quick sketches of the Falcon with the spires of Batuu rising up in the distance. First, was a quick ink and watercolor sketch in my small travel-sized sketchbook just to get things moving. I kept it quick and loose and just used one sepia-toned color to give it some life. After that, I got out my “datapad” to do a digital sketch with a little more detail and color from that same location. Check out the time-lapse below of this digital sketch to see exactly how it was created. I had a great time visiting Black Spire today to sketch a bit and enjoy the views. I hope you enjoy the art and keep your eye on the Disney Parks Blog for my next post from a new location in our “Sketches from the Park” series. See ya next time!
