Liberty Tree Tavern

That’s right, friends! With Christmastime in full swing at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, we were craving those comforting flavors of a traditional American-style feast that only Liberty Tree Tavern can satisfy! Join us at the table for our holiday all-you-can-eat meal — we saved you a place!

Being long-time tavern devotees, we love returning to our Disney World home for the holidays,  Liberty Tree Tavern, (oh, you thought those were restrooms upstairs? That’s actually our private living quarters!). 😉

But even though this long-time Magic Kingdom institution serves up a classic American bill of fare that is very reminiscent of the holidays, it’s actually the same food they serve here year-round! So if you ever find yourself hankering for a Thanksgiving dinner in oh, I don’t know, say…mid-July? Liberty Tree Tavern’s got you covered!

Atmosphere

With so much construction happening throughout Disney World right now, it alleviates some of our adversity to change to see places like Liberty Tree Tavern that have remained relatively untouched throughout the years.

The decor is just as we remember it — colonial-style furnishings with little historical elements sprinkled throughout! But rather than feeling stuffy (like you’re eating in a museum or something!) Liberty Tree Tavern has a unique charm and coziness to it — the likes of which we’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere else in Disney World.

Having each room themed after a different American patriot makes almost every time you dine at Liberty Tree Tavern a unique experience. The restaurant itself is enormous while each of its six dining rooms feels small and intimate. Some of the various rooms even include hearths and fireplaces which majorly up the homey-ness factor for us!

We were even treated to some special holiday decorations during our recent visit, being ACTUAL Christmastime and all!

But now it’s time to get down to business! Let’s see if Liberty Tree Tavern’s dinner tastes as good as we remember!

Eats

Years ago, Liberty Tree Tavern began providing a list of a la carte options for their lunch service in addition to their prix fixe all-you-care-to-enjoy meal. But for dinner service, Liberty Tree Tavern only serves its traditional bill of fare. The cost is $39 for adults and $21 for kids ages 3-9. Included in the price, you’ll be given a salad, Patriot’s Platter (which we’ll get more into in a sec) and dessert. The meal is brought to your table and served family-style.

The salad, a.k.a. Declaration Salad, is fresh and tasty, but by no means the star of this star-spangled meal. It’s a simple mix of greens, lightly dressed with vinaigrette and tossed with a few strands of red onion and some sliced cherry tomatoes. (On our visit, the Romaine was missing…because Romaine had been recalled yet again. Womp womp.)

Definitely eat some, because you’re in Disney World and it’s highly possible that you haven’t had a green vegetable in a while, but don’t fill up! There’s more to come!

Let’s talk about that Patriot’s Platter we mentioned earlier. This parade of meats and sides is the true spectacle of American eats we came here for! First up, Roasted Turkey with Gravy and Seasonal Vegetables! Today’s offering was Green Beans, which we were really happy about! They tasted great with all that turkey doused in rich, creamy gravy!

And did we mention you can eat as much of this stuff as you want? Finish a platter, and they’ll bring you another one! The fun doesn’t have to stop once you clean your plate — as long as you got room for more!

Next up, Pot Roast and Mashed Potatoes! The roast is melt-in-your-mouth delicious; so juicy and tender, while the mashed spuds are the real deal!

These mashed potatoes are buttery and super THICK! You can even see little bits of the potato skins mashed up in them! We usually ask for seconds (or thirds!) on just the mashed potatoes alone!

And you can never have too much gravy. Luckily this pewter gravy boat is amply-proportioned and holds a ton of the good stuff! Even still, we usually have to ask for a gravy refill!

The Oven-roasted Pork and Herb Stuffing are the next to arrive with a side of Cranberry Sauce. Just in case you’ve lost count, that’s THREE meats we’ve eaten during this ONE meal. And everything we’ve tasted so far has been super tasty! There are truly no duds in this feast!

We hope you saved A LOT of room for the next course — Macaroni and Cheese! We could eat bowls of just this stuff alone, it’s so cheesy and creamy! Plus the little elbow noodles hold onto all that rich cheese sauce making every bite wonderful!

Mac and Cheese

Here’s something cool you might not know about — if you’re traveling with kids who haven’t acquired the taste for traditional Americana flavors like pot roast or stuffing, you can always ask your server (nicely!) for Chicken Fingers and French Fries for no extra cost! It’s not guaranteed, but they may be able to help you out. That way, everyone walks away with a very happy, and VERY FULL tummy!

But we’re not walking away yet — not when dessert’s coming up NEXT! And Liberty Tree Tavern’s Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is THE STUFF OF LEGEND!

We’re talking a big plate of vanilla toffee cake smothered in chocolate sauce, toffee crumbles, and vanilla ice cream.

Behold! Liberty Tree Tavern’s Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake!

The cake is served warm so the ice cream and chocolate sauce get all melty while the little bits of toffee are SO buttery and delicious. While the feast as a whole is amazing, we have to force ourselves to remember to save room for this epic American marvel of a dessert!

Overall

For us? It’s still a winner. True — Liberty Tree Tavern isn’t serving “market-inspired cuisine” that you’ll get at Disney’s Contemporary Resort’s California Grill or even a fresh take on comfort food like you’ll find at Chef Art Smith’s homecomin’ in Disney Springs. But it’s a classic Disney restaurant with delicious comfort food and a fun AND EDUCATIONAL setting.

It remains one of our favorites in Magic Kingdom. Whether it’s the holiday season or not, we’ve decided we’ll be keeping our tradition of dining at Liberty Tree Tavern! Thanks for joining us!
