Disney4me
‘Ohana is BACK, people!! We’ve been waiting for this day for so long, and now it’s finally here *wipes a single tear.* So happy to be back! Seriously, ‘Ohana is one of our favorite places to eat in Disney World! The family-style food is delicious, and the tasty meals and fun atmosphere have us coming back all the time! We stopped by the newly reopened ‘Ohana restaurant for breakfast this morning, and we’re excited to show you what we found! ‘Ohana is a family-style restaurant that really makes you feel at home! The food and decor are Polynesian-inspired. The servers are all your “cousins,” and there’s usually live ukulele music and games for the keiki (kids)! Right now, the games (and characters for breakfast) aren’t around, but we think the food is still more than enough reason to visit! You will be able to see some live music if you go for dinner. Atmosphere ‘Ohana has a really chill atmosphere with island-style decorations and Hawaiian-inspired music playing. Welcome back! You’ll go to the front desk to check-in for your reservation! Once you’ve checked in, you’ll receive a text when your table is ready for you. While you wait, you can relax in the chairs close by or check out the Polynesian resort gift shop and lobby! We’re at ‘Ohana! When your table is ready, you’ll go back to the entrance of the restaurant (behind the check-in desk and waiting area) and a server will show you to your table! Make sure to look at all the fun decorations on your way to sit down! ‘Ohana Dining Room We think the detail on the ceiling is gorgeous, and the big tiki statues are a fun photo op! ‘Ohana Dining Room ‘Ohana has one big dining room with a lot of tables for seating. In the center of the room, there’s a small kitchen where you can see the chefs roasting meat for your meal! ‘Ohana Decor and Dining Room If you’re lucky (or you request it and it’s available), you’ll get a seat by the windows, where you can look out on the Polynesian Village Resort and maybe see Magic Kingdom in the distance! We’d highly recommend coming here in the evening sometime to watch the fireworks over Cinderella Castle from afar! Our table at ‘Ohana From our table in the morning, we just saw the beautiful lake and tropical grounds of the Polynesian Resort. It wasn’t a bad view at all! Our view from ‘Ohana Breakfast! Make sure to take in details like the fun Moana-themed carpet in the dining room! Remember, the resort is getting a brand new Moana theme!! ‘Ohana Carpet When you’re seated, you’ll have your plate and utensils at the table already. Table settings at ‘Ohana breakfast There were QR-code menus when we got to the restaurant… QR Code Menu for ‘Ohana Breakfast …but our waiter also brought us physical copies when we asked! Print Menu for ‘Ohana Breakfast There’s also an allergy-friendly menu, which is available as a print menu as well. Print Menu for ‘Ohana Breakfast Now that we’ve taken in all the gorgeous decor and views, it’s time to get to the food! Eats Breakfast at ‘Ohana is served family-style, with the bread, starters, and breakfast skillet included in the meal! It costs $25/person. Our waiter started us off with the Pineapple-Coconut Breakfast Bread! Breakfast bread at ‘Ohana The breakfast bread is sweet and delicious! It has a sweet glaze with hints of coconut, but not too much that it overpowers the pineapple flavor in the bread. Both flavors are a little more subtle, and we think they taste amazing in the bread! It’s gooey and sticky and we just love it. Our waiter also started us off with some coffee, which is by the Joffrey’s Coffee company that you’ll see around Disney World. Kona-sourced Coffee The coffee was pretty good, but basically just normal coffee! It came with some cream on the side so you can add in however much you’d like. The coffee cost $9. We preferred the POG juice as our breakfast drink! POG juice POG juice is passion, orange, and guava-flavored juice! This sweet, fruity drink is a staple in Hawaii, and it went great with the rest of the fresh fruit we got as an appetizer! But we’re getting ahead of ourselves — we can’t forget about Stitch! ‘Ohana has a few smoothie options at breakfast time, including the Stitch Smoothie with coconut and pineapple flavors! The smoothie came with whipped cream on top that had Stitch ears sticking out of it! Hi Stitch! We thought the Stitch Smoothie tasted just like a virgin Piña Colada! It was really sweet, and the texture was a little bit icy. Overall, we thought it tasted more like a virgin cocktail than a smoothie, but we really enjoyed it! We think it’s a great option for kids since it has a sweet taste and fun decorations (we love the little stitch ears on top!). The Stitch Smoothie was $6.49. If you’re looking for a more adults drink, our server let us in on an ‘Ohana secret — right now, there’s a Bloody Mary Flight at ‘Ohana! It’s not on the menu for breakfast, but our server was still able to serve it to us! You will just need to ask and it might be an option. ‘Ohana Bloody Mary Flight The flight includes Tequila, Vodka, and Whisky Bloody Marys (left to right on the picture above). For the Tequila Bloody Mary, the tequila was definitely poured on top and wow could we taste that right off the bat. We’d recommend adding the lime in and stirring before you start sipping! When it’s mixed, it was lovely and refreshing. The flavors weren’t spicy, but we like that in a Bloody Mary. The Vodka Bloody Mary was pretty simple and tasty, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. It had a light flavor, but we’d have liked it a little better with some hot sauce in it! Bloody Mary Flight Our favorite was the Whisky Bloody Mary! There was a really strong whisky taste, so if you’re not a whisky fan, this one isn’t for you. We — who happen to be whisky fans — thought the flavor complemented the tomato taste nicely and gave it a savory flavor. If you like Bloody Marys and those three alcohols (tequila, vodka, and whisky), we think you’ll really enjoy these drinks! The flavors are strong and apparent, though, so consider passing if you’re not a big fan of the ingredients. The savory Whisky Bloody Mary went great with our Seasonal Fruit appetizer! The appetizer came with a LOT of fresh fruit! All of the fruit was juicy and ripe. We thought the flavor was great in all the varieties! Even though it’s just normal fruit, we think it’s a good complement to the heavier breakfast skillet that we also got! Seasonal fruit at ‘Ohana Breakfast Sometimes we like to have a lighter option on our plate while we stuff our face with Mickey waffles. Mickey and Stitch Waffles The Breakfast Skillet comes with Mickey and Stitch waffles! The Mickey waffle is a classic, of course! But it’s always fun to see our crazy alien friend in waffle form too! Stitch Waffle The waffles come with syrup on the side so you can pour it yourself. And you can always request butter as well if you like it on your waffles! We thought the waffles were perfect — what else is there to say about Mickey waffles?? They were golden-brown and malty and sweet! Mickey and Stitch Waffles with Syrup But the character waffles are just the beginning of our Breakfast Skillet adventure! The skillet also comes with hot biscuits, scrambled eggs, Hawaiian ham and sausage, and fried potatoes. Breakfast skillet at ‘Ohana We thought all the food in the Breakfast Skillet was pretty simple but executed very well. Nothing was a big stand-out dish on its own, but it’s cooked well, seasoned nicely, and there’s something to please everyone in the family! Warm biscuits at ‘Ohana Breakfast The biscuits were just a little dry when we ate them on their own. We’d recommend buttering them or making your own breakfast sandwich by adding ham or eggs (or both!) on them! Pork: Sausage links, ham, and pineapple glaze The Pork is Hawaiian-style ham and Sausage Links with a Pineapple Glaze on top. The meat was tasty and simple. It wasn’t spicy, but the ham was salty. The saltiness wasn’t overpowering, though, and we thought it paired nicely with the Pineapple glaze. Fried Potatoes at ‘Ohana Breakfast The Fried Potatoes were crispy on the outside and nice and soft in the middle. They were seasoned really well! They weren’t spicy necessarily, but we could taste a hint of garlic in them! Eggs at ‘Ohana Breakfast We thought the eggs were super creamy — seriously, we do not know how they get their scrambled eggs so fluffy! There’s no rubbery eggs at ‘Ohana breakfast! Breakfast at ‘Ohana! That was a lot of food for us for breakfast! Nosh or Not We think you’ll be happy with ‘Ohana’s breakfast if: You LOVE breakfast food and want to eat a lot of it You’re looking for a leisurely sit-down meal to hang out and relax a little You’re staying at the Polynesian Resort already or you’ll be in Magic Kingdom and want a good sit-down breakfast close to the park Maybe take your breakfast plans elsewhere if: You’re looking for a character breakfast meal (try Chef Mickey’s!) You think spending $25 per person on breakfast is absolutely crazy (We get it! You might want to save and put the money towards lunch or dinner!) You’re looking for a quick bite to eat before hitting the parks (This is a sit-down meal that’ll take some time.) Overall We’ve loved ‘Ohana for a long time! The service when we were there was amazing. Our server was super attentive, came to check on our drinks often, and clued us into the Bloody Marys, so we loved him! Right now, there aren’t characters at breakfast (like there have been previously), so the $25/plate price seems a little steep. It is an all-you-care-to-eat meal, though, so you can definitely make it worth it if you eat enough! Spending $25 on breakfast might not be worth it to you, but it’s also a good option for a brunch-type meal if you’re going to be in Magic Kingdom and want to have a sit-down meal early in the day!
