Disney4me
When you’re in the mood for a spooky flick, Disney+ isn’t the streaming service you think of clicking over to first. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party But…maybe you shouldn’t cast it out just yet. As it turns out, Disney+ has a lot more “scary” options than you may think. Need proof? We’ve got a list of films we see as scary! Disney’s A Christmas Carol Don’t make fun of us for starting out this list with a Christmas movie! ©D23 There have been several adaptations of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol released over the years, but Disney’s version might be one of the scariest. The character models take on this bizarre “uncanny valley” (meaning the animation is so realistic it’s unsettling). ©Disney The scariest scene for us is when we’re introduced to “Ignorance and Want.” Ugh. No THANK YOU. Check out the trailer of the new Monsters Inc. show coming to Disney+ HERE! The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad We know Mr. Toad from his “wild ride” in Disneyland. ©Disney But when you put Ichabod and Mr. Toad together in a double-flick on Disney+, you wind up with two spooky tales featured in The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. Mr. Toad’s antics end him up in… *gulp*…the underworld. Headless Horseman in Disneyland As for poor Ichabod Crane? Seems he’s got a date with a Headless Horseman! Ready to watch the Hocus Pocus sequel? So are we! Read more about it HERE! Alice In Wonderland (Live-Action) This one might be a bit debatable. But for some, the animated version of Alice in Wonderland is creepy as is and when you carry it over into a live-action film, it’s SUPER creepy! ©D23 This whimsical dreamscape is filled with characters you’d never want to meet in a back alley. Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter, for instance? Or The Queen of Hearts who’s ready to go around and start slicing off the heads of those who make her angry? ©D23 And don’t even START with the Cheshire Cat and that deranged smile of his. *Shudders* Watch a super-cool Disney+ drone video HERE! The Black Cauldron Some have claimed The Black Cauldron to be the most terrifying animated film Disney’s ever created. ©D23 But how scary could a movie about a pig herder, a princess, and a strange furry creature be? We want to keep this pretty spoiler-free (even though it did come out in 1985) so we’ll keep it brief and simply say…The Army of the Dead. ©D23 You want a bone-chilling villain, reanimated skeletons, and glowing red eyes? The Black Cauldron has you covered. We’re ready to see more theme park content come to Disney+! Click HERE to learn how our dreams may soon come true! Mr. Boogedy/Bride of Boogedy Okay, I don’t think we’ve really got to do much convincing here. Just take a look at the movie art. ©Disney Mr. Boogedy: Funny name, put pure nightmare fuel. This movie takes place in a town called Lucifer Falls (not kidding) and revolves around spooky ghosts who haunt the unassuming Davis family. ©Disney+ And then they went off and made a SEQUEL to this movie — Bride of Boogedy. So if you’re looking for a double-feature of creepy characters and spirit possessions galore, here ya go. Time to watch The Lion King from Disney+ and . . . workout too? Click HERE for The Lion King workout! Can of Worms Can of Worms is labeled as a science fiction comedy, but when we take one look at the “worms,” we’re just going to *nope* our way on over to a different movie. ©Disney+ All of the aliens of this movie haunt our dreams. The antenna eyes, the human teeth on an inhuman form, the goopy-looking forms that make them look more like a molded meal you’ve waited WAY too long to take out of your fridge? Nope. Nope. Nope. ©IMDB Guess that’s what we should expect from a movie all about a teen boy thinking he’s an alien, but being forced to play football instead. (Wait, what?) Disney rides are being featured on Disney+? Learn more about the new series HERE! Don’t Look Under the Bed We’ll gladly take the advice of this title. ©Disney+ The Disney Channel Original Movie, Don’t Look Under the Bed, released a boogeyman upon an innocent neighborhood, wreaking havoc for anyone unfortunate enough to cross his path. Good thing we’ve got imaginary friend, Larry Houdini, to come save the day…right? ©IMDB Maybe we just won’t sleep tonight, it’s fine. Totally fine. Ready for Black Widow to finally release on Disney+? Read more about it HERE! Frankenweenie Tragic and terrifying — Tim Burton rattles our nerves once again with Frankenweenie: A stop-motion feature about a family dog brought back to life. ©Disney+ Personally, we’re not as frightened of the reanimated dog as we are all the side characters. And some of the other undead animals. Oh, and it is kind of freaky to watch different body parts fall off of Sparky every now and then. ©D23 But, again, it’s a Burton film — so what did you expect? Are we going to see ads on Disney+ soon? Read more HERE! Haunted Mansion What do you get when you cross Eddie Murphy with a classic Disney attraction filled with 999 Happy Haunts? Let’s go see those 999 happy haunts! You get the Haunted Mansion on Disney+! Like any solid haunted house film, this mansion is cuuuuuursed . . . And the only way to break such a curse is through the combined brainpower of Murphy and Madame Leota. Haunted Mansion If you’re spooked riding Haunted Mansion, this movie may give you the heebie-jeebies. Or it may make you laugh. Either way, good times all around. Check out EVERYTHING releasing to Disney+ in July HERE! Hocus Pocus Were you waiting for this one to be mentioned? @Disney Hocus Pocus has gone from being a cult classic to one of the most-watched films around the Halloween season. Join Sarah, Mary, and Winifred as they try to…suck away…children’s youthfulness to restore their own. Hocus Pocus Ugh. Yikes. Now that we’re writing it out, it sounds way darker than we remember. When will The Beatles documentary release on Disney+? Find out HERE! James and the Giant Peach Ah, now here’s another Burton-produced stop animation! ©D23 James and the Giant Peach is based on Roahl Dahl’s 1961 children’s book about an orphan boy who escapes his awful aunts by…rolling away in a giant peach? So the plots not super-scary, but — again — remember this is the brain-child of Burton and Director Henry Selick, meaning you’re going to see a whole bunch of characters who’ll give you the willies. ©D23 Plus, you’ve got some live action thrown in the mix, too — meaning you’re going to have to endure the horridness (yes, that’s right, we said “horridness”) of James’ aunts, Spiker and Sponge. Enjoying Loki on Disney+? Then check out the new Loki Loungefly HERE! The Nightmare Before Christmas Would you like another helping of Tim Burton stop-motion animation? Then here you go! The Nightmare Before Christmas @Disney The Nightmare Before Christmas is another popular Halloween (and technically Christmas) movie about a pumpkin king who wants to experience the exhilaration of being Santa Claus. Skeletons, animated ragdolls, and sacks full of buggos galore — this movie surely puts us in the Halloween/Christmas spirit. Jack’s Nightmare Cavalcade Sigh. As creepy as they may be, we can’t wait to see Jack and Sally back in the Disney parks again! Bring on their spookiness! Merch for Pixar’s Luca (on Disney+ NOW) available in the Disney parks! Click HERE to learn more! Pirates of the Caribbean (Series) “Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirate’s life for meeeeeee!” Arg! Pirates are all fun and games until you realize there’s more to their “worldly” form than you may have originally expected. (No spoiler zone here! Go watch the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie and find out yourself!) Along with a *certain plot twist* that still has us shaken (even though the first movie was released back in 2003) (has it really been that long??), villains like Davy Jones (MAINLY Davy Jones) are also downright terrifying. Yo ho! Yo ho! Good thing we’ve got Captain Jack Sparrow to help lighten the mood. A Turner and Hooch show is coming to Disney+! Watch the trailer HERE! Return To Oz The family-friendly classic film, Wizard of Oz, is a sweet story about a farm girl from Kansas who learns about the importance of home through her time in the zany realm of Oz. (And she gets a snazzy new pair of shoes in the process.) ©Disney In Return to Oz, however, her family — whom she missed oh-so-much in the first film — subjects her to a series of “treatments” when she just won’t. stop. talking. about the world of Oz. (Great, huh?) When Dorothy escapes in this second film and returns to Oz, it’s no longer the happy-go-lucky land she remembered. ©D23 Instead of singing Munchkins and good witches in bubbles, Dorothy now gets to see dismembered heads and “Wheelers” (creatures that have wheels instead of hands and feet). Have you tried making the pasta featured in the new Disney+ Pixar film, Luca? Learn the recipe HERE! The Scream Team Ready for more ghosts and kidnapped souls? Of course, you are! ©D23 The Scream Team is another Disney Channel Original Movie about two kids who come face-to-face with the ghost of a skydiver, a soldier, and a bride. Oh, and the spirit of their late grandfather. That’s important, too. ©IMDB Lots of deadly fun abounds! How many Disney+ subscribers does Disney *really* have? Find out HERE! Okay, so these options aren’t scare-the-pants off you horrifying, but they might satisfy that creepy/spooky movie craving you have without keeping you up all night with leftover heebie-jeebies. (Or maybe they WILL keep you up all night. The Cheshire Cat smile still haunts our dreams . . . ) The new Black Panther show for Disney+ started filming! Read more about it HERE!
