Disney4me
We’re back to check in on all of the construction projects going on around Disney World! So pretty! Since the beginning of the year, Disney has been sprucing up the parks and resorts for the big 50th Anniversary celebrations that are set to kick off in October and that has led to A LOT of construction. And, this week wasn’t any different — between refurbished attractions, lands, and more, we’ve got tons to cover, so let’s get to it! Magic Kingdom Jungle Cruise Jungle Cruise has been undergoing some major construction in Magic Kingdom and it’s remained open the entire time making it easy to spot something new almost every time we ride! And, this week we noticed that something had been added to the plane crash scene! Now the plane reads “The Amazing Hathaway Browne” which is a reference to an aviator character that could be found at the Adventurers Club which used to be found in Downtown Disney’s Pleasure Island (before it was redone and named Disney Springs). The graphic reads, “Hathaway Browne” And, the legacy of the Adventurers Club still lives on in references to S.E.A. (which stands for the Society of Adventurers and Explorers), and the Jungle Cruise storyline is tied to the organization so you’ll find the crest in a lot of different locations in the queue now. The SEA Crest! Plus, we also noticed that the last of the tribal native animatronics had been removed, so you’ll no longer find the tribal drummers on your boat ride. Somethings missing from here! For reference, here’s what the scene used to look like. Here’s what it was before! These updates join many others including brand new characters and scenes along the attraction as Disney works to complete the Jungle Cruise updates by the end of the summer. Adventureland But, Jungle Cruise isn’t the only spot that’s getting some changes in Adventureland — the sign for the land is also undergoing some renovations. Here’s what the entrance to Adventureland used to look like… Here’s what it looked like previously… …and here it is now! You might have to look reallly hard to find exactly what’s different, but Disney is slowly removing portions. So, if you look close you can spot that one of the tiki heads on the right has been removed already. Adventureland Sign now! Disney hasn’t shared whether they will just be removing some of the pieces on the Adventureland sign or if we’ll be getting some brand new additions in the coming months, but we’ll continue to keep our eye out for more changes. Ariel’s Grotto Speaking of signs, this week there were a bunch of updates to…well..signs! Over in New Fantasyland, we noticed that the entrance sign for Ariel’s Grotto (which is where Ariel used to be found for a meet-and-greet) had been removed. Ariel’s Grotto sign is missing! Now, this location has been closed since the parks reopened last year because traditional meet-and-greets (like this one) are currently suspended due to COVID-19. It’s not clear whether this is just routine maintenance or if there could be more changes planned for this spot, but for now, you can find Ariel in the daily character cavalcade and greeting guests on Main Street, U.S.A. from time to time. Peter Pan’s Flight Peter Pan’s Flight also got some updating this week! Back in March, Disney filed a permit to “remove, refurbish, and reinstall” the entrance sign at Peter Pan’s Flight and for a long time, all that we’ve been able to see is the removal part (though it was replaced with a banner for the time being). But, it looks like we’ve made it through the refurbishment because the sign is BACK! What it was before… There aren’t any major differences in the sign compared to what it was before it went away for refurbishment, so it likely just received some touch-ups. The sign is BACK! But, it was great to see Peter Pan, Wendy, John, and Michael welcoming guests to the attraction once again! Be Our Guest Restaurant We’re not out of the Fantasyland construction just yet! A few weeks ago we shared a look at the work being done on the exterior of the Be Our Guest Restaurant and, if the scaffolding wasn’t enough to clue us into the work being done, now there’s a sign! We spotted some construction work over by the Be Our Guest restaurant The work began with the Beast’s Castle receiving a fresh coat of paint and is still continuing on the mountain area now. “it’s a small world” And, the classic attraction “it’s a small world” both closed and then reopened this week to reveal a brand new paint job on the clock tower in the queue! If you’re not familiar, here’s what it looked like before… Here’s what it looked like before… …and here’s what it looks like now! It is POPPING with hues of pink, blue, and green to immediately draw your attention to the icon that can be found both in Disney World’s version of the ride and Disneyland’s! “it’s a small world” was repainted! And, inside the ride, we noticed that one of the boats in the final scene seemed to have gotten a few touchups and was a bit brighter than we remember. Even the boat was refreshed! Not too bad for a three-day turnaround, Disney! Tomorrowland Over in Tomorrowland, Disney has been working to repave the entrance area to the land and it looks like the work is just about complete! The work is done! All of the construction barriers blocking the area have been removed and there’s plenty of room to spread out once again! And, hey, that sidewalk looks pretty great too! Frontierland And, barriers may be gone from most of Tomorrowland, but they’ve popped up all over Frontierland! We spotted construction walls up in quite a few locations throughout the land including out front of Prairie Outpost & Supply. We reckon there’s something going on here Disney hasn’t shared what work is being done in the area, but we’re anticipating that it’s just some minor maintenance work similar to what we’ve seen in other areas of the park. EPCOT Future World EPCOT is also home to quite a few construction projects as Disney continues work on the EPCOT Transformation. This week, we noticed that the restrooms near Spaceship Earth West were closed and had construction walls up. Construction around the bathrooms In the meantime, there are a few other restrooms in the area that remain open in case you find yourself needing one. World Showcase And, back in World Showcase, the Brazil Booth that is opening up at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival on October 1st mysteriously went missing. The Brazil Booth is MIA Bushes are currently surrounding the area to block guests’ view of any work being done and it likely won’t be long until we see it come back! Disney Resorts Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Lastly, scaffolding and a lot of materials have appeared around many of the guest rooms at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. Lots of work going on here The work even extends to the entrance to the resort from Disney’s BoardWalk, though there is still plenty of room for guests to enter the hotel. It’s near the entrance too We spoke with a Cast Member who believed that they are completing routine maintenance on the exterior of the guest rooms and balconies, so we’ll continue to keep an eye out for when this may be completed.
