Applications soon will be accepted for potential members of the planDisney panel, a group of Disney-selected people who answer questions about travel to Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line. Panelists also cover Disney Vacation Club and Disneyland Resort.

Online applications will be accepted from noon Sept. 9 to noon Sept. 14 Eastern time via planDIsneySearch.com. The company looks for a diverse mix of “real guests,” Disney says

“The 2022 panelists will be selected based on their personal experiences with Disney destinations, their communications skills in sharing their Disney knowledge and their ability to connect with guests looking for practical, helpful advice from their peers,” a post on the official Disney Parks Blog says.

The selection process has as many as three rounds, including short-answer questions, a video submission and an interview. The current panel has about 35 members.

There are a host of guidelines found on planDisney.com. Among them: applicants must be at least 18 years old and have access to a computer and internet connection. Selected members must be able to travel to Disney World Dec. 11-15 for training. Applicants cannot be current Disney cast members or employed in the travel, hotel, theme park, cruise line or timeshare industries; they also cannot have immediate family members in the Central Florida hotel or theme park industry. (The website breaks this down specifically.)

Disney figures that panelists complete 15 to 20 written responses per week, and it estimates that 30 minutes are spent on each question.

For their participation, panelists receive vacations at Disney World, Disneyland or the cruise line, depending on their areas of expertise. That benefit includes the panelist and up to three family members.

The panel was formed in 2008 as an online forum and for several years was referred to as the Disney Moms Panel. The current model is an expanded range of people, not just mothers.
