If you’re into classic American cafe food like Fried Pickles, Baked Potato Soup, or Walt’s Chili, you might truly enjoy Carnation Cafe. Reservations opened not too long ago and now the restaurant itself has officially reopened, so come along with us for a first look!

Atmosphere

We arrived to Carnation Cafe on a beautiful day, and visited the Cast Member out front taking names for walk-ins.

This building truly embodies that classic Main Street, U.S.A. vibe!

Carnation Cafe has both outdoor and indoor seating.

We sat inside, with a sweet vase of carnations at our table (because of course!).

Now let’s get to the food!

Menu

Carnation Cafe’s menu includes classic menu options and some of Walt Disney’s favorite meals, like Walt’s Favorite Chilias well as dishes like the Baked Potato Soup, Wedge Salad, and Chopped Chicken Salad.

They also serve Gourmet Burgers, including a Parmesan Toasted Patty Melt and the Carnation Cafe Cheeseburger.

As for Sandwiches and Entrees, you can choose from a Chef’s Plant-based Burger, a Roasted Turkey Club Sandwich, Braised Short Rib with House-made Mac & Cheese, a Fresh Catch of the Day, and Chicken-fried Chicken.

And for desserts, there’s Apple Pie a la Mode and Seasonal Cheesecake.

Today, we ordered Walt’s Chili for $9, which is Hearty Chili topped with Cheese, Sour Cream, Chives, and a Corn Bread Garnish. This is a pretty standard beef chili with beans, but it’s flavorful and the toppings are a great addition.

We also tried the Roasted Turkey Club Sandwich for $14, which is made with Freshly Sliced Turkey, Applewood-smoked Bacon, Vine-ripened Tomatoes, Monterey Jack, Lettuce, Avocado Mayo and Lemon Aïoli on Toasted Sourdough served with your choice of fresh Fruit or Seasoned French Fries.

We also grabbed the Braised Short Rib with Mac and Cheese and Seasonal Vegetables for $23. The Mac and Cheese could have used more cheese in our opinion, but the short rib was truly delicious!

The Fried Pickles were $8 and you get 4 BIG pickles. These are dill pickles that are hand-battered in panko, fried, and served with house sauce. It’s a LOT of pickle in one bite, so you’ll want to make sure you’re a pickle fan if you grab these.

Of course, we saved a bit of room for dessert and grabbed the Apple Pie a la Mode for $9. The pie tasted like a fresh homemade apple pie with a wonderful hint of cinnamon, and it was served with a refreshing scoop of vanilla ice cream.
