If you were a fan of the retired attraction Primeval Whirl in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, your heart likely broke a little at the sight of the DinoLand U.S.A. ride being demolished this fall.

But as the saying goes, when one door closes, another one opens! There’s a sweet piece of real estate potentially up for grabs in DinoLand and we wanna know what YOU want to see there! We reached out to our followers on Facebook and asked them to send in their ideas of what they would like to see move in to the old site of Primeval Whirl…and we received some pretty creative responses!

Re-theme the entire area!

A large number of readers suggested that this could be an opportunity for the DinoLand U.S.A. area of the park to be completely re-themed to a NEW land in Animal Kingdom! Several readers pointed to the opportunity to re-theme the area to something new, including introducing intellectual property into the area with films like The Jungle Book, Zootopia, and even Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

Others pointed out that the original concept of Animal Kingdom included a Beastly Kingdom themed land, and reader Sandra G. commented that “Perhaps this is a chance to add that mythological animals section that was supposed to be in the park when it opened.” Tim J. suggested that “Raya and the Last Dragon would be perfect since the original concept included a mythical creature land.”

We saw some Raya representation in Animal Kingdom this past spring!

But some readers disagree! Lisa P. said, “Let’s hope they put something with a dino theme to stay with what’s already there,” and Scott K. said, “I want them to lean into the theming even more! Make it a mini Coney Island with a ferris wheel and more carnival themed things!”

Add something new to DinoLand U.S.A.

Many other readers preferred DinoLand U.S.A. remain in Animal Kingdom, but suggested some unique ideas for new offerings that could be brought into the land on the old site of Primeval Whirl.

One of the suggestions brought up by readers was to add a family-friendly ride: several individuals pointed out that the main ride in DinoLand U.S.A, Dinosaur, is very rough for some guests and many are unable to ride due to its bumpy nature! Deborah B. and Keith P. both brought up The Good Dinosaur as a potential way to bring something new to the land that guests of all ages could enjoy, or, as Sara L. added, “Something for kids to do.”

When character meet and greets are available, you can spot some familiar faces in DinoLand!

DinoLand U.S.A. does offer family-friendly activities, including character meet and greets (when available), as well as the Boneyard play area. And lest we forget the love it or leave it Triceratops Spin. But a family-friendly ride or even more kid-friendly entertainment could certainly be a possibility!

The Boneyard is a fun place for kids to dig up some dinosaur bones!

Al H. suggested an “Indiana Jones coaster,” which could fit in with the theme of archeology. Other readers suggested new offerings that don’t fall into the ride or attraction category. Kristin H. suggested that “a nice table service restaurant” could be added to the land! Right now, there are some counter service options in DinoLand, including Restaurantosaurus and Trilo-Bites. Not sure if you know this, but we kinda dig food, so we’re not hating the idea of a sit-down restaurant over in this area of the park!

Right now there aren’t any table service dining options in DinoLand

In the meantime, if you’re looking for some dinosaur-themed dining outside of DinoLand U.S.A., you can check out T-Rex in Disney Springs! But just temper your expectations — basically don’t expect Michelin star-quality fare here.

Though the food there is hit or miss (mostly miss), the atmosphere is a must-see for dino fans of all ages. A new and improved dinosaur-themed dining experience would be really neat!

If you’re still bummed like we are about the demolition of Primeval Whirl, you may have the same thoughts as Scotty M., who said that “nothing” should move in, adding: They tore down something wonderful and I want it to remain empty as a memorial to all that we’ve lost.” We feel ya, Scotty! Like other construction projects around Disney World, we’ll keep a close watch on DinoLand U.S.A. and we’ll let you know if we hear of any developments regarding a potential new addition to the land where Primeval Whirl once stood!
