Have you heard the HUGE holiday news? Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is returning this year, and there’s a NEW party coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well! But those aren’t the only major announcements we just heard.

Disney announced that there’s a new “entertainment experience” coming to Cinderella Castle this holiday season! Let’s check out the details.

According to Disney, “Guests will be able to join Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and the Snowgies in front of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom for ‘Frozen Holiday Surprise,’ a brand new Frozen-inspired entertainment experience that will illuminate the castle in a whole new way.”

The new show will take place both during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and during regular park hours, so you don’t have to buy a ticket for the event in order to see it.

Since the new show is debuting, it seems like we probably won’t get the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights back this year. We’re super excited to see this new show, but we have to admit that we’re a little bit sad that those magnificent lights will likely not be returning to the castle. But who knows — maybe we’ll be surprised and the dream lights will be part of the new Frozen show!

We miss these lights!

Cinderella Castle has been through a LOT of changes over the years — we’ve seen it covered in toilet paper and graffiti and draped in 50th decorations, and no one can ever forget the controversial birthday cake castle. The Dream Lights have been missing since before the pandemic. In 2020, Disney World had a pretty scaled-back holiday season, and the Dream Lights did not appear. Then the 50th anniversary started in October 2021, and — potentially due to the extra decor already on the castle for that celebration — Disney didn’t add the Dream Lights for the 2021 or 2022 holiday seasons. Instead, they used holiday projections. Now, it’s time for a completely new show!
