Disney World rides can’t run forever, unfortunately. Sometimes, they need a little TLC, or their time has run out.

Disney does their best to tell us about these scheduled closures ahead of time so you can plan your trips around them if it’s a ride you really want to experience. Here are three attraction closures you’ll want to watch out for in 2024 if you’re planning a trip!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Yes, the former Splash Mountain ride is being transformed into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is set to open in late 2024.

We said LATE 2024, yes. That means for the beginning and middle of the year, you may not want to book your trip if this ride is one you’re really hoping to experience.

We suggest waiting until Disney releases a tentative opening date or opening timeline for the ride before booking your trip!

Kali River Rapids

During the winter months (January–March), Kali River Rapids often closes for refurbishment in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Not many people want to ride water rides when it’s chilly in Disney World, so Disney usually uses this time to touch up the ride for regular maintenance.

So if you’re visiting between those months, this may not be a ride you can hop on. Disney usually announces this closure a few months prior, so we may know by November or December of this year if the ride will close again for refurbishment.

Typhoon Lagoon

For the past few years, only one of Disney World’s two water parks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach) has been open at a time, even during the summer months.

Currently, Typhoon Lagoon is open this year while Blizzard Beach is temporarily closed. We’re assuming (but Disney has not confirmed anything yet) that this means they may switch next year, and Typhoon Lagoon may be closed for refurbishment.

Keep in mind, too, though, that both water parks will close for cold weather, which can happen often during the winter months.
