Disney World is constantly evolving.

This year was big for the theme park! We got a new thrill ride, a Moana-themed attraction, tons of EPCOT transformation updates, and more. But, 2024 is around the corner and even MORE things are coming. Let’s take a look at what Disney has promised for the upcoming year.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Earlier this year, Splash Mountain closed to make way for the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

The “new” attraction is going to be a retheme of the old one, centered on a story of Tiana hosting a Mardi Gras party for the people of New Orleans.

We’ve seen a lot of progress being made over at the ride in the past few months, including a colorful new mural around the queue building!

The Cake Bake Shop

We got a ton of restaurant news this year, but one of the most exciting updates in the works is The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers coming to Disney’s BoardWalk.

This new restaurant was originally scheduled to open in late 2023, but it got pushed back to an early 2024 timeline back in September. Once it opens, this new spot will serve brunch, lunch, and dinner, as well as an afternoon tea service. You’ll also be able to pop in for a quick treat to-go at their bakery case.

Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs

Speaking of Disney’s BoardWalk, a Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs is also in the works!

Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs is already a beloved spot in Disneyland, but soon visitors will be able to try these hand-dipped corn dogs on the East Coast. Like Cake Bake Shop, this stand was originally slated to open in 2023, but it was delayed until next year. Here’s hoping we’ll see it early in the new year!

Disney Dining Plan

After the park closures of 2020, Disney World made a lot of changes to its policies and offerings. One thing that went away was the Disney Dining Plan.

Are you excited about DDP coming back?

Guests have been missing this option for YEARS, and Disney finally shared they will be bringing it back in 2024. Starting on January 9th, 2024, visitors will be able to enjoy the Disney Dining Plan once again.

Park Pass Reservations

Another thing that changed after the parks reopened in 2020 was that Park Pass Reservations were required to visit.

However, starting on January 9th, 2024, visitors with date-based tickets will no longer need to make a Park Pass Reservation. While Cast Members and Annual Passholders will still typically need to make them, there will be new “Good to Go” days where they can enter without a reservation.

Park Hopping Update

Disney also recently announced that beginning on January 9th, 2024, all-day park hopping is finally returning!

Four parks, one day — are you up to the challenge?

Currently, park hopping is limited to after 2PM each day, but next year, anyone who has a park ticket with park-hopping capabilities can park hop at any time of day.

Genie+ Changes

Thinking about taking advantage of Genie+ in 2024? While Disney hasn’t shared many details about it yet, they have stated that a plan is in the works to simplify the service.

The company has listened to guests who wanted to “plan with Disney Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane selections before the day of their park visit,” and is working on ways to make that happen in 2024.

Polynesian Village Resort DVC Building

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is also currently going through some changes. Disney is in the process of building some new Disney Vacation Club Villas at the resort and they are slated to open sometime in 2024.

This new building is expected to bring new dining, swimming, and recreation options, and the new rooms will feature waterfront views and balconies.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

On top of finishing the DVC building at the Polynesian, Disney is also planning on redesigning the cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

The proposal calls for more than 350 refreshed cabins to replace the existing ones at the campground. The concept for these new structures shows modern cabins “inspired by the resort’s idyllic setting, while also paying homage to the resort’s unique culture and heritage through the magic of Disney storytelling.”

While the cabins are officially part of the DVC lineup, they will be open to reservations for all guests.

Star Tours

Lastly, Disney will be updating a classic attraction in 2024Star Tours in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The new version of the ride will feature scenes from Ahsoka, an original series on Disney+. These new scenes are set to debut in the Spring of 2024!
