Disney4me
Not everything in Disney World goes according to plan. Magic Kingdom Sometimes, you’re hit with bad weather (yep, it’s raining today). Sometimes, a bear invades Magic Kingdom (okay, well, it only happened ONCE…so far). Sometimes, your favorite ride is closed. Well, we’ve got some bad news about a VERY popular ride in Magic Kingdom. TRON Lightcycle / Run has been closed all day (February 4th). When we arrived at Magic Kingdom, we made our way over to Tomorrowland and noticed that TRON / Lightcycle Run was closed. Although it is raining today, this is not a ride that normally goes down due to weather (since even the outdoor portion of the ride is covered with a canopy). So the weather isn’t the problem. Something else must be going on. TRON Lightcycle / Run is closed Cast Members were standing in front of the ride, explaining that it is not currently open. As of the time this post was written, the ride is still closed. Cast Members explaining the ride is closed So here’s the thing: TRON Lightcycle / Run does not currently use a standby line. To ride TRON, you’ll need to either grab a spot in the free virtual queue or pay for the Individual Lightning Lane option. Those with a virtual queue will have to wait for the ride to reopen; at that time, the virtual queue will place you back in the boarding group system. If the ride does not reopen later that day, you can talk to a Cast Member at the attraction or someone at one of the blue umbrellas (the Guest Experience Team). There’s probably not much they can do at that point, but it never hurts to ask if there’s anything they can do to help. TRON Lightcycle / Run However, for those who paid for the Individual Lightning Lane option, you’ll get an “experience redemption,” which serves as a boarding pass that lets you ride the attraction at any time of the day after it reopens. If the ride doesn’t reopen during the day, you can get a refund, but you have to ask for it. Go to Guest Relations and ask for a refund if the ride does not reopen or if Disney has announced it will remain closed for the rest of the day. Note that if the ride does reopen, you do not qualify for a refund. UPDATE: TRON Lightcycle / Run later reopened in the late afternoon. Stay tuned to DFB for more!
