Disney4me Posted June 20, 2024 Report Share Posted June 20, 2024 Donald Sutherland, the actor known for starring roles in The Hunger Games, Klute, Ordinary People, and M*A*S*H, has passed away at age 88. via ABC Sutherland’s son, actor Kiefer Sutherland, shared the news on social media. In the statement, Kiefer said, “With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away. I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived.” via People ABC News reports that Sutherland was born on July 17th, 1935 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, and got his start in acting as a student. He later went on to lead a prolific career that includes nearly 150 film credits and more than 40 roles on television. His first roles included the television series Man of the World and Suspense and later starred as Vernon L. Pinkley in the 1967 World War II classic, The Dirty Dozen. In 1970, he played Army surgeon Hawkeye Pierce in the film version of M*A*S*H which inspired the TV series of the same name. More recently, though, he made an impact with his portrayal of Coriolanus Snow, the tyrannical president from The Hunger Games movie franchise.
