When you travel to Disney World, how do you get there? Most of us choose to fly into Orlando International Airport.

However, there are a number of things that can cause flight delays and even cancelations. In fact, it’s usually a good idea to prepare yourself for a flight change of some kind every time you fly because it does happen often. If you happen to be flying into Orlando today, June 29th, though, you can certainly expect delays because a ground stop has been issued for Orlando International Airport.

According to WESH, a ground stop has been issued at Orlando International Airport today. A ground stop is an air traffic control measure that slows or stops inbound flights coming into the airport. So that means that flights in other airports headed to Orlando will not be given clearance to depart until the ground stop is lifted. As a result, that means multiple flight delays at Orlando International Airport.

Ground stops are usually issued during bad weather, dangerous wind shear, or an operational event. Today’s ground stop at Orlando was issued as a “facility environmental issue.” As a result, according to Flight Aware, more than 200 flights are currently delayed at Orlando International Airport.

However, some of those flight issues are also due to 150 flights being canceled by WestJet after a mechanics union organized a strike. According to ABC News, the strike by the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association came as a surprise after the union claimed the airline’s “unwillingness to negotiate.”

This comes at the start of a busy 4th of July travel week, which is expected to bring record crowds to the airport, as well as to Orlando, in general.

If you’re headed to Orlando today, you’ll need to keep yourself updated by making sure you have notifications enabled through your airline’s app, as well as a way for airlines to notify you of any future delays or cancellations. It’s a good idea to also tap into your patience because you could be waiting a while for your flight to depart. Time to fire up Disney+ or grab a good book because it might be a long travel day.
