Disney4me
What DO YOU DO in the morning at Disney World? Chicken-Stuffed Mickey Waffles It’s no secret that Walt Disney World has a litany of food options. There are table service restaurants and quick service locations offering countless options for dinner, lunch, and – – our focus today — breakfast. We took to our Facebook page to ask our readers whether they eat breakfast in the parks at Disney World, and the results were a bit surprising. While the majority of respondents to our question (59%) responded that they do eat breakfast in the parks, a frankly larger-than-we-anticipated 41% of those who answered said they NEVER eat breakfast after they have tapped in. Hat tip to the “No… granola bar for the win!” crowd. So, why do so many people skip breakfast in the Disney Parks? Well, as they’re prone to do, our readers let us know. We were surprised at these results! The biggest reason given was time, with many saying that they simply didn’t want to dedicate “valuable” park time to breakfast. As reader Christina put it, “Never. I’m not wasting precious morning hours by slowing down for food. We bring a to-go bfast snack to eat in the gate line.” Others said the same. Reader Sarah wrote “No, it wastes too much time and money. We eat breakfast in our room while each other is getting ready”, while Carolyn added, “No! Coffee and breakfast in the room before we head out, then as soon as we get to the parks we head right to the rides!” Several readers specifically pointed to their plan to rope drop the parks as their reason for not getting breakfast in the parks. One of those came from reader Skip, who said “No, busy rope dropping rides. We grab a slice of wonder bread and some faucet water on the way out the room.” Sarah expressed a similar sentiment, writing “No we grab it quick at our resort so we are ready when parks open. We don’t like to waste time on breakfast” and Judy put it bluntly, “In all these 51+ years never; no particular reason except ‘wasting time’”. Our plate! Others pointed out the expense factor, saying that they saved by bringing breakfast from home. As reader Liz put it, “Never. I used to hit the grab and go market at the resort but I realized bringing cereal from home does save me a few bucks. I just go get a half gallon my first night there and I’m all set.” However, there were some ardent breakfast defenders responding, as well. Reader Matt pointed out the benefits of grabbing a pre-rope drop reservation at the restaurants where that’s available. He responded,“Yes— Beast’s Castle Breakfast is awesome.. Especially if you can get the before rope drop resi!! Chip & Dale character Breakfast at Epcot Garden Grill.. Before rope drop is amazing also! Walk right in the Soarin’!!” Now, Be Our Guest which Matt is referring to no longer serves breakfast, but there are other options where you can get a table-service reservation before Magic Kingdom opens for the day — namely Crystal Palace and Cinderella’s Royal Table. Mickey Mouse at Garden Grill Reader Karen explained that her views on Disney World breakfast have changed thanks to the birth of her son. “When I was in my 20s before my son was born, I never had breakfast in the resort or the parks. It was all about rides. After my son was born we did breakfast and now he just has to have breakfast all the time. He says that’s an important part of our trip… we have breakfast at the resorts and at the parks. My son definitely enjoys the breakfast more than the rides.” Mickey Waffles! Meanwhile, a third group of reader seemed to be in the middle, stressing that their breakfast plans tended to shift based on the day, or if there was a particular character breakfast they wanted to book. As reader Doug put it, “We generally mix it up. Some days are quick service or table service at the resort, others are the same only in the parks and some days we just have something in the room prior.” Finally, several readers expressed that they USED to eat breakfast at the Magic Kingdom… until Disney eliminated their favorite dish at the Sleepy Hollow stand. As reader Jacquie put it, “I used to…RIP Nutella Waffle Sandwich” Fresh Fruit and Nutella Waffle Disney fans seem to be split on eating breakfast at Walt Disney World, and despite the litany of available options, we don’t think that’s going to change for the foreseeable future.
