Disney4me
A LOT is about to change in Disney World and Disneyland. New Lightning Lane changes are coming Genie+ as we know it is going away forever, to be replaced by a new service called Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. In Disney World, even more changes are coming to the service that allows you to skip the standby lines for rides. Regardless of which Disney resort you’re visiting, though, you need to do one very important thing before July 24th. Let’s talk about just how much things are going to change in Disney World. In addition to the name change, Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass will allow Disney World visitors to buy both services in advance and choose their Lightning Lane selections BEFORE their trip: seven days in advance for those staying at Disney World hotels and three days for everyone else. Rides have been assigned to one of two specific tiers, so you can choose one ride from the top tier and two rides from the bottom tier…or three rides from the bottom tier when selecting your first three reservations. Here’s a full list of which rides fall into which tiers for each park. ©Disney In addition, you’ll be able to have three Lightning Lane selections at any given time. You’ll also be able to purchase the Lightning Lane Multi Pass and your Lightning Lane Single Pass options with just one transaction. As we said, BIG changes are coming. With those changes, the My Disney Experience app will change, as these updates will be available through the app. Recently, we opened the My Disney Experience app and received a message on our iPhone. It said that in order to take advantage of these changes, you need to update your app. ©Disney However, even if you don’t see this message, the update is available, so you’ll need to visit the Apple App Store and update the app through that. On Android, the update was released on July 10th (as indicated in the update notes). If you don’t have auto-updates set up, you can update through the Google Play Store. ©Disney The Disneyland App is getting an update, too! For now, the skip-the-line service is simply getting a name change on the West Coast. The advance selections that are coming to Disney World are not coming to Disneyland. Therefore, everything will work the same as Genie+ and the Individual Lightning Lane option. However, you’ll still need to update your Disneyland app. These updates are now available for this app. ©Disney So, if you are headed to Disney World or Disneyland on or after July 24th, be sure to make sure you’re using the most recent version of the resort’s app so that you can successfully use Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass.
