Disney4me
It seems like the new trend in streaming is bundling. ©Disney We’ve recently learned more about a Disney+, Hulu, and Max bundle that’s available. We’ve also been waiting to get more details about the sports streaming bundle Disney announced earlier this year. The bundle brings together sports content from Fox, ESPN, and Warner Bros. Discovery on one streaming app. Disney has unveiled some information about this new sports streaming service, but now, we know how much it will cost. The new sports streaming service will be called Venu (pronounced like “venue”) and will offer “the most sought-after live sports from the top leagues and teams, together in one place. All in a new app built from the ground up for sports fans.” According to The Wall Street Journal, the sports streaming service will cost $42.99 per month and will include live games from the NFL, NBA, MLB, and Division I college football and basketball. Venu Sports The new service is scheduled to launch this fall and will give subscribers access to 14 live sports channels, including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS, ABC, FOX, FS1, FS2, BTN, TNT, TBS, truTV, as well as ESPN+. New subscribers will be locked in at the $42.99 per month price for a year from when they sign up and will be able to cancel at any time. The new service will end up having about 55 percent of U.S. sports rights. ESPN feature at CES 2024 However, the new streaming service still faces some legal challenges. It still requires regulatory approval before it can launch. At the moment, some in the industry are suggesting that the new service violates federal law, and Fubo TV has gone so far as to sue Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery with a complaint that the new service is complete market suppression. ©Fubo If the streaming service does manage to get over its legal hurdles, though, it will be the first of its kind.
