Can a $1 Addition “Fix” This Magic Kingdom Dessert?

Recommended Posts

If you’ve been hanging ’round these parts for awhile, you probably know about the WORST waffle news of the summer…the big change to the Waffle Sandwiches at Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom.

Remember the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich that came with bananas, berries and chocolate-hazelnut spread? Well, there are no more waffle sandwiches at Sleepy Hollowthey’ve been replaced by Mickey Waffles that we do not like nearly as much. But Disney is offering a simple addition now for $1 that could make your Mickey Waffle snack better!

Back in June, Disney World changed the menu for Sleepy Hollow — a snack stand in Liberty Square. Before the change, the regular waffle there with chocolate-hazelnut spread, berries, and bananas, had long been a snack we recommended in Magic Kingdom. On June 25th when the new menu took effect, that Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich was gone — replaced with a Mickey Waffle topped with EITHER chocolate-hazelnut spread and bananas, OR berries and powdered sugar.

Now, we’re not fans of this change. The Mickey Waffles are thicker and softer than the regular round waffles we could get here before — and they don’t have any crispy texture. They break down into a gloppy mess with the toppings. Now we’re not saying they inedible (they are still WAFFLES after all), but we don’t love ’em.

But one of the things we’ve heard most from readers upset about this change is that you can’t get all the toppings together — berries AND bananas AND that chocolate-hazelnut spread. But we just noticed a new option on Mobile Order that DOES make this possible! For $1, you can add berries to your Mickey Waffle with Chocolate-Hazelnut Spread and Bananas!

Add berries for $1!

We do have to say we were very happy to see that these were FRESH berries! The past couple of times we have tried the new waffles and funnel cakes here, the berries have had the texture as if they were thawed from frozen, but these were definitely fresh.

We are STILL HOPING to get the original waffles back some day, but we appreciate the fresh berries and the new option to add them for just $1 now.

What do you think about this change? Does it soften the blow of the waffle sandwiches disappearing?
