We’ve Got Some Bad News About EPCOT’s Food Prices in the Japan Pavilion

Recommended Posts

Disney World isn’t just chicken nuggets and cheeseburgers, but you probably already knew that. These days, you can get a thick, juicy steak at Le Cellier, a handmade pizza at Via Napoli, or an authentic meal at Takumi-Tei.

If you’re not familiar, let us formally introduce you to Takumi-Tei, a fine signature dining restaurant in EPCOT’s Japan pavilion. Takumi-Tei — which means “house of the artisan” — is inspired by Japan’s natural beauty. You’ll be seated in one of five rooms inspired by a natural element: water, wood, earth, stone, or washi paper. It’s a gorgeous restaurant with an impressive menu.

Now, what makes this place special is Takumi-Tei’s prix-fixe menu, consisting of two omakase* multi-course meal options: an omnivorous “Kiku” meal for $250 per person (with plates that include Sushimi, Soups, a Wagyu Beef Roll, a selection of desserts, and more), and a plant-based “Hasu” meal for $250 per person. Wine pairing is also an option with the omasake meals. (*Omasake dining is a style where you “leave it up to the chef” and let them curate your meal!)

Unlike, say, a place like Be Our Guest in Magic Kingdom, this restaurant has a fluid, ever-changing menu. The menu contents change every three months in line with the four Japanese seasons. You could go multiple times within a year and have a completely different experience!

In the past, there were a few notable ways to pay less than the $250 per-person price tag. First, the plant-based “Hasu” meal was $150 per person; the price has now increased to $250 per person. Additionally, starting September 1st, 2024, Annual Pass and DVC discounts will no longer be available.

It seems like soon, there won’t be much getting around those high prices. But, to be fair, this is a signature dining experience with a thoughtful menu and chef-quality entrees. It’s not your average theme park meal, that’s for sure! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
