Disney World

You’re probably really excited about visiting the parks and seeing some of the most recent changes, including new rides like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. You’re probably STOKED to check out the new Country Bear Jamboree show. Maybe you’re ready to stay at some new properties, like the new DVC villas at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. However, 2025 may NOT be the best time to visit Disney World, and we’re going to tell you why (#sorrynotsorry).

So here’s the deal: we just got a lot of HUGE Disney World news at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. And some of those announcements are going to affect your Disney World trip. So we have a word of warning if you plan on visiting Disney World in 2025.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Might Have Less to Offer

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is about to get some BIG changes. For example, the It’s Tough to Be A Bug show inside the Tree of Life is getting reimagined into a Zootopia-themed show. Now, Disney didn’t say when it would start working on that project, but the new show is set to debut in winter 2025, which means It’s Tough To Be A Bug could close soon to make that happen — and remain closed throughout most of 2025. That’s one less thing to do in Animal Kingdom.

Dinoland U.S.A. is also getting a complete overhaul to become Pueblo Esperanza, which will include a new Indiana Jones-themed ride, a carousel, and a new Encanto-themed ride. Disney did say that they would work on the land in phases, but construction will begin in fall 2024, meaning that you could find yourself with even fewer things to do in Animal Kingdom while that’s going on.

Disney did promise there would still be more time to ride Dinosaur, but at some point (likely in 2025), it will close to make room for the new Indiana Jones ride, which will leave that area without an attraction.

Price increases will happen

If there’s anything that’s a certainty in Disney World is that price increases will happen in 2025. This means that park tickets could very well go up in price sometime during the year, but that’s not the only price increase you have to worry about. Surge pricing means Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass could go up in price, depending on when you visit.

Not only that, but we see price increases on food and beverages all the time, but usually once a year, we see those price increases above the board at every single dining spot on the property.

Three Huge Hotel Changes Have Been Announced for Disney World in 2025

Planning for things opening and reopening will be hard

Disney might have announced a ton of things for the parks, but one thing they didn’t announce are specific opening dates for anything. So although we know that Test Track will reopen in EPCOT in 2025, we don’t know WHEN in 2025, so if you don’t want to miss out on that ride, you’re kinda’ left guessing when to plan your trip.

This also goes for some new things coming to Disney World in 2025, like the Pirates of the Caribbean tavern and Magic Kingdom’s new nighttime parade. We know they’re coming in 2025, but Disney has not announced when, although we do have a little direction with that nighttime parade: summer 2025. This makes planning around those openings difficult, though.

Construction Walls EVERYWHERE

Remember trying to navigate through EPCOT during its big transformation and there were construction walls everywhere, and you had to take detours to get around the park? Well, imagine that on a much larger scale because THREE of Disney World’s four parks are about to get construction.

Get used to seeing these construction walls EVERYWHERE

Yep, there will be new construction in Animal Kingdom for the new Tree of Life show and Pueblo Esperanza. Magic Kingdom will have a huge area of Frontierland under construction. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is getting a Monsters, Inc. land, and that means MORE construction. So yep, there will be construction walls EVERYWHERE.

The Walt Disney World Railroad could close…again

When Disney World was busy building TRON Lightcycle / Run in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom, the Walt Disney World Railroad in Magic Kingdom had to close because Disney ended up having to rearrange some train tracks. It is VERY likely that all the NEW Magic Kingdom construction could potentially close the train again.

So if you love riding the train around Magic Kingdom, it may not be an option in 2025 due to construction.
